Ridiculous. Even Malisse beat some top 10 and top 20 players this year - does that make him a top 10 player?

Fanboyism won't help. Verdasco does not deserve a spot in the top 10. Probably not even in the top 15.

Your opinion is worthless if I'm honest, he's in the top 10 for winning titles as well. So be it small titles.

3-6, 6-4, 6-4 is now a spanking is it? Ok, if it gives you comfort that Verdasco beat Roddick out of prime and injured then so be it. Roddick owns Verdasco on H2H and has had a superior career. Verdasco needed that mickey mouse tournament more than Roddick anyways.

I expect Verdasco to drop out of the top 10 next year, how that guy actually got into the top 10 with 1 slam semi and a beatdown in a MS final i will never know.

And you think he deserves a place in the top 10 by winning small titles? Yeah, consider my opinion worthless then.

It was 3 sets and Andy won the 1st how is that a real spanking?
It seems I got most right with the exception of Nadal.
Federer in fact didn't make to 2 of the semis.
Djokovic top 2
Roddick next week out of top 10
Kubot-I didn't think He had to defend that many points, another wrong one
Murray almost #5
Gulbis????close to top 20 though
Del Po injured-so I can't do anything with that.
Cilic and Tsonga will hang in the top 10.
Davydenko got injured and signed with Dunlop ,lol

Federer correct,
Djokovic correct so far (but likely to be incorrect),
Roddick currently incorrect,
kubot currently ranked 63 so incorrect,
murray almost guaranteed to be top 5 so incorrect,
Gulbis 25 currently incorrect,
Del Po injured incorrect (Im sure you thought nadal was dropping because of injury so you can't have it both ways :)),
Cilic 14 far away from top 10 incorrect,
Davydenko 6 far from top 5 once you look at points so currently incorrect,
Nadal- Massive Fail here once you look at points, incorrect

So we have 1 incorrect, 2 incorrect, 3 incorrect, 4 incorrect, 5 incorrect, 6 incorrect, 7 incorrect, 8 HUGE INCORRECT (it's like getting wimbledon wrong as opposed to doha).

2 correct (but one likely to be incorrect in the future).

So we are right now at 2/10 and possibly 1/10 in the future. Dropping delpo gets you to 2/9 and likely to be 1/9 in the future.

Quite a feat Buckethead. When you see this kind of hit rate and consider that flipping coins does better you have to wonder if there is some "bias" involved in these predictions. ;)

lol, yet another Fiasco from Verdasco, that's because He wanted to be a number 5 in the world.
He makes my days so much more enjoyable just to bring this thread back up again every week.
I hope that loser falls out of top 10 this next week.

Of course, because back then in December last year and still today I don't think Verdasco should be/is a top 10 player. He has weapons but He is a mental midget and can't get rid of that mind set.

Good day!
I do.
But only about the ones who deserve, are humble, are hard workers and I see potential to win, become champs, real champs.
Equipment wise I bash on what is not good, what is deceiving, but I do respect what is good and I don't like(eg RPM Blast).
peace!!

You should know what do we say here in Spain about Verdasco when he succeds at being a mental midget (and also because he's supposed to represent some sort of not-everywhere-well-liked stereotype):

We say:

"Verdasco da asco."

Meaning "Verdasco is disgusting".

And also another nice rhyme :) only probably a rhyme he has suffered a lot in his childhood days (hence more hurting to him), since it is extremely easy.

2nd round nowadays for Verdasco it is like a final, that is the furthest He goes(and of course, He loses lol) and He just got knocked out by Gael Monclown.

He seemed to be very unhappy with the Dumblop racket as well.
What a combination!
Not to mention that Becker always give him hard times.

I love Becker's quote afterwards:

LOL!!! Verdasco might want to consider this strategy.:)

I can't help but be amazed by his latest downfalls...he's SUCH a wasted talent. What the hell's his problem?

His problem is called- Women and everything related to them, parties, ...
He thinks He is more than what He actually is and that is where He went wrong, plus He has made some bad decisions.
There are many players that can beat him on daily basis and give him hard times.
His top 10 status is more luck than actual earned, at least for the last 6 months.

Oh dear. What is up with Fernando? :(

I used to think all he needed was a lot more discipline and commitment to his sport but now I wonder if the problem isn't deeper. Suffering from a inferiority complex perhaps? Just doesn't think he's good enough? The way he's been playing in recent months, it certainly seems that way.

He played a few good shots and his backhand seemed to be improved. But his forehand lacked its usual venom. It might be something to do with the racket.

Another problem is that he is such a slow starter. He gets broken early in almost every match he plays and after that he must constantly play catch up to try and get back into the match.

I actually disagree with you. I think he's one of the few Top-Teners who really COULD be a Top-Fiver, if only he got his damned act together. He's immensely talented...can do most anything on court. Compared to his very competent colleague who's beside him in the Lower-Five, David Ferrer, Verdasco's far more capable of finesse and is simply a better shotmaker all-around.

But where is his motivation - is it skewered by women/partying, indeed? Or is he overconfident - arrogant, unwilling to go the not-there-yet-but-I'll-learn route his most famous fellow Spainard traveled to pull himself out of his hole?

Whatever he does, I'll be watching, and waiting.

Well, I kinda agree with you, but I meant my post in another sense.
Right now he is really not top 10-worthy based on his performances. If he always played his best, he would be a top 5-player for sure, but he never seems to find his good form. :???:

Look who's in the top 5 today. Do you really think Verdasco belongs up there with slam finalists and Masters 1000 winners? Somebody who won a grand total of 4 sets (for 0 win) in 15 encounters with Fedal?

He doesn't belong top 10 by years light.
Roddick(I can't stand him), Berdych, Monfils, Davydenko, Tsonga are just better tennis players, now you have also some young guns coming up that will be able to beat him, and you have the rest of top 40(most of them) that any day can beat Verdasco including some of these guys I mentioned.
Verdasco is talented, but He chose to live the life of tennis player and not be one.
If you wanna be one great tennis player and win, you gotta live for it.
He is not more talented than some others and proof is, if He Doesn't train day in day out with one of sthe best camp in the world He loses to anybody.

Yeah, I mean, I agree with you and Sdont on that score...Verdasco's not earning his keep in the Top Ten right now. I'm merely expressing my rather sad frustration with his lack of commitment and lack of whatever else it is that he allows to block him from remaining solidly in the Top Ten and moving further up. If he's not practising or doing what he needs to do to be better every day, then it's true that his potential is just that - potential unrealized and unremarkable in the end.

thats rubbish, and you know it. for god's sake, since the semis ao09 i am a big fan of fernando, too. but he is just not commited enough for a permanent top10er. nevertheless, for me he is a hero. a shame that he did not win that fateful semi.

vamos, fernando!
