Fernando takes the 1st set 6-4....Fh up the line is looking lethal and physically looks in good shape....He has beaten Murray at Melbourne and that epic 5 setter against Nadal at his peak. I think the courts suit his game well.

He seems to be a lot more relaxed without the shadow of Rafa. Not as neurotic as usual.

OTOH, does the match feel like a bunch of ball-bashing on both sides to anybody else?

Mental meltdown time for Verdasco? He got a "coaching warning" from the chair umpire. Seems angry and flustered now. This is when Fernando usually packs it in lol.

Verdasco choked in that tie-break. I doubt he will recover, Anderson should take it in the fifth.

Also, Verdasco has been serving poorly (for his standards) the entire match.

He served up a mini-break in the tie-break, after being down 3-5 in the set... the "typical Fernando Verdasco meltdown" is almost showing up.

Embarrassing loss for Verdasco. Another one added to the list of a once promising career.

Never pick verdasco. Even if you're 100% that he will win it.

It wasn't really a choke. Mr. Anderson really took it to him.

What? Verdasco was up a mini-break. Then he lost the 4th set in a point that the court was fully opened and Anderson was already walking. If that isn't choke...

The Verdasco bandwagon was starting to regain some momentum lately. Looks like it crashed hard.

He lost two other sets where Mr. Anderson was just knocking the fuzz off of the ball.

Verdasco was in control at 2 sets to 1...He was controlling points with his forehand.. He's just one of them players whos great when on, but below average when slightly off the pace.

Let's reset the old saying: "death, taxes, and Fernando Verdasco finding a way to not win matches."
