lol you guys are too funny. You all already wasted your time replying, so why not at least answer the poor guy, then you can tell him it's wrong board heh.

Of course it's better with dampener, better for your arm. And I use a rubberband - cheap and reliable and stays in place.

Oh and btw, you're in a freakin wrong board dammit, so learn to read and post on the right forum. wtf is wrong with you???!!!! heh jk.

dampeners just reduce the vibration from strings which create that pinging sounds. like it muffles it. tests showed it had nothing to do with being better on the arm.

yes, they're good. specially if you use Yonex racquets. because of their square shape string pattern they vibrate like no other racquet. but I can't see it being a bad thing with any racquet. ..... wrong forum. welcome to the site man

I use to use a dampner but now I play without it. without, you can feel the ball more, I think, and the sound can tell you how well you hit it.

    I don't know if it's just me...but I find some rackets already so dampened I can't really feel the ball...I tried a LM Radical and without a dampener it was very comfortable already...with a rubberband I couldn't feel a thing...now I use a n6-1 95 with no dampener.

Maybe I should be hitting harder then, haha.

"is it better with or without a vibration dampener"

First of all, it seems that you mean to ask a question. Therefore, the proper phrasing and punctuation would be "Is it better with or without a vibration dampener?"

Now, we must tackle the next obvious question: In your 'question', to what does the "it" refer? Is WHAT better with or without a vibration dampener? Your television? Your shoes? Your oatmeal?

I will go out on a limb and assume that the "it" in your 'question' refers to a strung tennis racquet. And so, in its proper form, your question would read: "Is a strung tennis racquet better with or without a vibration dampener?"

Now, after all that, the ONLY answer to this question is: You have to try it for yourself. NO-ONE can tell YOU what is better - only you possess that capability.

If someone would have answered this way right away (that only you can determine what is best), then there would have been no need for any subsequent posts.

Learn to distinguish between "criticism" and GUIDANCE. All these posters did was inform him that this was the wrong forum, period. No criticism involved here, Donnyboy.

Whenever a dampener falls off I can feel it immediately. My racket feels way worse, and by "worse" it may simply feel different from what I'm used to but it bothers me either way. It's not just a noise thing. Besides, sounds are analogous to movement of the thing making the sound/disturbing the air, so I don't see how people can speak as if they're two completely different things, the racket and the sounds it makes.

I think this answer may work for the most "which racquet..."-like questions here. :)
