Stop lying you only spent 2 hours total. JK =P

Only watched the breaker, but it looks good. Still don't think you've only been playing for a year, but you got some nice strokes.

Wow, hate to open a can of worms, but you're pretty damn good kid. You know less than a year, or 4 years, very impressive.

Wow, at least take the time to watch AT LEAST the groundstrokes. The tiebreaker doesn't show much at all.

Don't know what you mean by opening a can of worms, but thanks for the reply.

Why? It shows match play and match play shows a player's true form. It'll tell me more about your game than some rally balls.

Oh, okay but let's try not to bring the subject up of how long I have been playing since I posted the truth, people don't believe me, and now it's over and done. Just looking for comments & critiques. Hopefully everyone watches ALL The videos to get a better understanding of my game though. One video doesn't do me any justice.

He doesn't suck. He is above me on the varsity ladder, we were just both fatigued by that time. It was at the end of the day of filming (around the last hour) but we were trying our best. Thats why I said to watch all the videos because I knew most people would go straight to the tiebreak and judge solely from that.

ok for one dont say "double" after your opponent double faults...thats just dumb...and second if you want people to have a good idea as to exactly what your game is all about or whatever, then post less groundstroke vids and more matchplay vids...anyone can have good looking strokes warming up but as we all know its a different animal when it comes to match play...and lastly is the camerman of the groundstrokes video eating the camera? I mean the video is only five minutes long, does he absolutely have to chew on shards of glass during that time? This is more ranting I know but that is a big pet peeve of mine is hearing people chomp on their food...(and for those of yall who are gonna say "why dont you just mute it ******" save it cuz I dont wanna hear it. I enjoy hearing the sound of the ball)

Let's see. I didn't want to get bageled, 6 months ago, which was why that was in my OLD, OLD thread, and I only recently got moved up from JV to Varsity like 3-4 weeks ago.

That guy he played wasn't very good so it didn't really showed much of his true form.

Sorry guys, I will get a better match play video sometime, but as I said earlier, this was at the end of the 6 hour day of playing and we were both tired. Trust me, he doesn't suck.

Cool. If you have the money, buy a back-up battery as well. In the middle of shooting, the camera shut off, and we had to walk back to Daniel's house to charge it while we ate his scrambled eggs ;D. Then we came back and played. Very inconvenient..

    Stop being so defensive.

Your volleys suck, you don't volley like that.

I'm being defensive for my friend Damian, everyone keeps saying he sucks, when he doesn't. He is actually better then me.

And instead of just saying "you suck", you could actually help and tell me what I am doing wrong/right, etc.

I saw your comment on your youtube.
"Oh the person feeding the ball sucked."
Are you joking? They were good feeds.

I don't know if I should explain it to a prodigy like you. You seem to have learn everything that you need to learn by looking at videos online. Why don't you go and do the same?

Your a bigger ass then BB to be honest. He just calls me a liar, you on the otherhand personally attack me, and no, you didn't see the whole video. They couldn't feed jack. I had 3 minutes worth of volleying, guess why I only put like 30 seconds in? Because they couldn't feed. Most of them hit the tape of the net, some turned into lets ,and some came WAYYY too high, but I dealt with it.

yo're very very good for such a beginner, If I might make a suggestion, you would probably benefit from the old coaching tip of:

Imagine you're hitting through 4 balls instead of just one.

You could stand to make slightly cleaner contact, that old coaching tip will probably fix your swingpath though.

Let me know if it doesn't.

I can't really call those volleys except one or two hits that you did. Then why even put the volleys in? Couldn't you just have said "Oh, the feeds were horrible, couldn't do much with it." This is going to go no where.

Remember that you don't bring your racquet all the back to your shoulder, you only bring it to about your ear then use the punching technique.

Let me just say that, your groundstrokes/serves are technically sound and if you play for a long time you might make it to div2~div1 college.

    And yes, I am ass.

I'll try that the next time I play, thanks.

That is all I was asking for Quicken. You didn't need to say I sucked, but Thank you for the volleying tip and I will work on that.

    Thanks again.

    Hey batman,

I think your serves, fh and bh in the tiebreak clip are really good. You looked relax and the ball went over with good pace.

Trust me I play with many adults who've been playing for years and still couldn't swing or serve like that. At this point I think you're only limited by physical strength which is understandable given your physique. I can imagine what your shots will be like if you put on muscles.

    Great job.

Thanks for the reply, my serves in my Volleys/Overheads/Serves video is much better though :).

Anyways, I think I am about to go play tennis again but this time with my friend Leon. I'll try to get some footage if I can of some matchplay.

I'd say D3, probably not 2 and definitely not 1. His groundstrokes are fine in terms of technique but they are not solid. Foot work needs a lot of work, you seem to keep running through the ball when you hit it instead of setting yourself up to hit it. Forward to back movement, none. Didn't see that many approaches so I'll leave that out. Volleys, well... I think you know judging from previous posters. Once again, can't exactly tell from the video since there were way too many unforced errors.

    Regarding your volleys:

You're standing way too close to the net. You're
like a third of the distance between the service line
and the net. While that may be where you want to
end up when you hit the volley, you should probably
start off farther back, and then move in after the
ball has been struck. Then after hitting it, immediately
move back. Repeat. You're back swing is also
*WAY* to big. No way to have power and control against
any ball that's hit with a decent amount of pace.

Don't blame the feeds. Feeds, while not perfect, look
okay for volleying. Adjust to each feed hit to you.
You fairly short, so I bet some
of those feeds that you though were too high
actually were not and it was mostly b/c you were too
close to the net and couldn't adjust.

We are playing on Sunday so I will try to get some video of more matchplay.

Well first of all (not to be mean or anythin') your shot selection is very poor. I mean the guy on the other side just basically messed up shots and thats how you won. There were no real winners or anything like that. If you were to play someone who could actually play consistently, then you probably would not win (based on the shot selection). Remember in a tennis match you also have to use the brain! :D

One thing i notice bigtime is that you swing way too much on your volleys and have a huge backswing. Shorten it up. You should only be swinging a little nudge.

uh. yes, no need for the attacks, but seriously less then a year? And really no need for the "PLEASE READ". You don't need to prove anything to anyone in this place. Basically my opinion on volleys are the same, especially since im more of a touch volley, then pure punch so yeah.

    Groundstrokes:
Your forehand is wickedly open. Although I like your knee-bend, but a few of your bad shots, were really out? Like they flew really far away from the court, so perhaps you need to take more little steps, before you start your "unloading" phase. Although your preparation steps before your opponent hits the ball is nice, okay footwork, atleast there is the split-step integrated and what not.

Backhand, a little too much windshield wiping. I really suggest to adopt a really traditional 1hbh technique, before using the WW, because i believe it is even harder to use. What is the traditional form?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTK3uOngTYM

That is Edberg's backhand. Notice no windshield at all? Pure straight lead with the grip straightforward hit. I used to start alot of wrist action like my forehand, on my 1hbh, but learning to hit like this as Edberg, helps you to learn fundamentals, where off of, you can add the wrist eventually to compensate for high balls, and low approach shots and what not.

I'm surprised how well you can hit your second serve. Most people that I've seen take a considerable amount of pace off their second. Also, as many have already said, you have too big of a takeback on volleys. FYB has slow motion videos of how far back you should really go.

Also, have you tried the tactic of speeding up at contact point? You seem to swing full power (or whatever amount of power you exert) throughout your whole ground stroke. If you see slow motion videos of pros, they accelerate their speed at contact point, which gives them power to their shot without really sacrificing control.

Im not sure if youve only been playing for one year but none the less your good. Like others have said, you swing too much on your volley.

    BTW, how old are you?
