Saw these in person. The leather is actually pretty soft. I wonder if anybody would actually play in these shoes. Kind of like Stan Smith's.

two things you must know about vintage\retro shoes (i use a lot for recreational tennis)

they are much less of everything compared to new models but on the other hand, how much better of a tennis player are you compared to Rod Laver in the 60's? because he was using canvas plimpsoles who are much much worse than those....

so... it's really up for you to try!

I think playing on grass or clay retros are OK if you are not too aggressive. On the hard court the sole may burn out a lot faster. Heck it is better than those ppl wearing running shoes on the court.

But for recreational like you've said, the style is pretty cool. I won't mind doing it for a game or two. I am waiting for them to go on sale before pulling the trigger though. :)

yep.. that's what i do... pick them up on sale, wear them for casual looks and use them for tennis when goofing on the courts with my GF or my inexperinced friends...

now for agressive practicing\match tennis, even though im not a grinder at all, i use only my Bab's, Oscillates or Enqvists... but that is a whole new story...

I am currently wearing Nike CB 1.3 and the revive. None of these can really dub as street shoes with jeans, although the CB comes pretty close.
