Got an email from Sega, Virtua Tennis 4 is out today

Checked out the trailer and it's possibly one of the worst trailers ever made

    http://www.sega.co.uk/virtuatennis4/en/

Maybe the clunky and sometimes completely off stroke motion will get pass a non tennis player's eyes, but why show players running in circles on the court like a headless chicken?

Looks like everything is the same with an updated paint job... actually that's just like the real world LOL.

The end with Nadal running around like an idiot against Fed while the ball bounced was a powerlol.

I've played all the Virtua Tennis games and the demo for VT4. It's definitely a step up from VT2009, which wasn't even good anyway haha. Gameplay is still about the same: run around in circles and hit the ball, but it looks like they went back to the VT1 and VT2 gameplay where you have to actually be in the right spot to hit the ball, otherwise you'll swing and miss it. That's a good thing. The game isn't out in the States for another 2 weeks, so let us know what you think of it if you get it :)

That looks absolutely embarrassing next to TS4.

I wish TS had the graphics and motion capture of VT. VT captures the player animations extremely well. Otherwise they're games for different audiences. VT is straight up fun arcade, while TS is a very good simulator. I definitely prefer TS as more skill and strategy is required, but it's also fun to play VT for the pros' actual strokes, albeit simplistic gameplay.

I'm more of a fan of the virtua tennis games than the topspin series. I just sold topspin 4 a few days ago on the big auction site after only playing it a few times, I just don't like it. The players move like robots and just about every player has the same swing animation. Also its too sim like for me, I prefer a more arcade like experience in virtua tennis. Ill probably buy it but virtua tennis 3 is the most stressful game I've ever played online.

^ I just don't see the point in using REAL tennis players to make an arcade style game though. When I play tennis I want it to feel real.

Virtua Tennis is like one of them cheesy, bad quality games that you find in the arcade next to the exit of a ride at a theme park.

I think the graphics are better than TS4 IMHO.

Many people are saying that but I strongly disagree.

That´s the only department in which VT4 is superior to TS4.
Gamplay at VT4 is crap while TS4 is amazing. :)

I think some of you are missing the point of the game here. Virtua Tennis started out as an actual arcade game and then made it's way to consoles. It's just that, ARCADE style gameplay. It's like comparing NBA Jam to NBA 2K or NFL Blitz to Madden and saying how unrealistic those arcade games are compared to actual simulators.
