Volkl grip size?

I just got my demo for the Volkl Tour 9 V-engine today in a 4 3/8 grip. The grip size feels smaller than 4 3/8 to me though. Do Volkl grip sizes run smaller than other brands?

I'm not sure if this is true for all Volkl's, but my Tour 10 V Engine has the flatter tour grip. It feels smaller with the continental and bigger with the eastern forehand.

Maybe it is the shape of the grip that is making it feel smaller. I will measure later to confirm the grip size.

babar - Just curious, I thought that you had already demoed the Tour 9V and thought that it wasn't anything special. I know that you said it was strung at max tension and felt pretty stiff. Are you now trying it out again with different string and lower tension? If that's the case and you think the racquet plays somewhat better or even less stiff and more comfortable, please post your thoughts.

I agree that it is most likely the Volkl grip shape. I use the C8 and whenever I pick up another racket, I immediately feel like the grip is larger; fact is, they are usually just rounder.

Hi Michael,

I tried the Vengine 9 and found the lower tension and softer string made the racquet feel a little more cushy, but really did not improve the play of the frame too much. I still had trouble getting spin with the string pattern, unless I really followed through high on my swing. The grip still felt a little small even with a thick overgrip on, but not too bad.

I did have a blast trying the Diablo midsize! Wow, what a feeling! I could swing out on everything and the ball fell in the court. It was strung with a multi at 55 lbs. Very nice to hit with. Just had some trouble with returns, but I was a little slow also b/c of laziness.
