Are they really serious about the opti spot or is it an elaborate joke? How are you supposed to keep your eye on the racquet and the ball at the same time!?

I play customized volkl o10 295 and opti-spot if functionally useless. I just consider it part of the paint job. But, the o10 rackets are very good quality rackets.

And this from Volkl, the company people believe puts its resources into "engineering" rather than player sponsorships.

I agree The opti spot is decorative. Otherwise Volkl makes some fine well constructed sticks.

I've used an X10 325 for a year or so and not once have I consciously noticed the opti thingy (other than it's a bit ugly as a paintjob).

I play with the X10 325 also and have never noticed the Optispot thing as I swing. Always watching the ball.
