Have any of you at TW played with this new offering yet? Surely our Volkl connoisseur Chris has!

I'm very curious as well. The one thing I want to hear thoughts on especially is how stiff it plays because that RA of 70 is somewhat concerning although the Organix V1 Pro has a RA 68 and the play testers gave a 90 so very interesting to see hear their opinions.

One interesting thing about the G9 is its extremely high twistweight - 15.49! This is greater than the Pure Drive Roddick, despite a big swingweight difference between them (315 vs. 328). This is surely aided by the G9's capped grommets, but the new G. Prestige Pro is also capped and TW University measured its twistweight as only 14.51, despite the Pro they measured having a swinweight of 339! I think the G9 probably has the highest twistweight/swingweight ratio on the market, at least among non-oversize frames.

The Super G 9 is an interesting racquet. It offers lots of control and feel. It is also very maneuverable so I found it easy to get pace on serves and spin everywhere. I really like it at net as I feel very connected on touch volleys etc. The feel is crisp, clean and precise. Power drops off a tad quickly outside of the sweetspot which bothered others more than it bothers me.

I would add weight at 3&9 and counter at the handle for better plow through and I like the fact it is plenty light enough to customize without making it super heavy.

Both the 9 Super G and Pure Strike 18x20 offer a very clean and crisp feel. I find it easy to get spin with both. The Pure Strike is a tad more forgiving out of the two, but I think that would be an easy fix with some weight on the 9. I love the controlled feel of the 18 mains on both. Both are great for stepping inside the court and changing up the pace and or direction of play.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Chris, TW

    ragingbull1980,

Yes, we are just wrapping up the playtest of this frame. The video should be up by early next week at the latest with the written to follow in 2-3 weeks.

    Winners or Errors,

We liked the racquet! Sorry for the delay in the review, we have been pretty busy the last couple weeks and were out of the office for the BNP Paribas tournament. We are in the last stages of editing and should have it up shortly.

    Brittany, TW

PS- We have the video posted if you want to check that out in the mean time!

Thanks Brittany. I watched it. Sounds like a nice evolution of the Volkl 9 Series.
