Been playing with a full bed of VS gut now for a few months in my EXO3 tours and my TE seems to have completely gone away :):):)

Having moved progressively from a full bed of poly, to gut/poly hybrid to full gut - I miss the insane spin I used to generate; especially with a full bed of new BHBR!

Realise and appreciate that unless I go back (not realistic) that I'm not going to achieve those RPM's but I'm still keen on getting as close as I can, with what I've got.

Hence, I after some recommendations on the optimum tension for a full bed of gut - spin generation being the primary consideration.

    Thanks in advance!

    It wasn't nice!

Playing without pain or aches during/afterwards is fantastic - and as tempting as it is now to go back to a poly setup, I'd rather not go through it all again.

Have you tried using a hybrid setup of gut mains and co-poly crosses? It provides a good blend of power, control, and spin. In addition, you save some money since you can use a full set of gut twice.

I did. Loved the VS/CoFocus setup but my TE persisted. Didn't get rid of it until moving to full gut.

Try full bed of Rip Control (multi.) It's much softer than poly but generates as close to poly-like spin as anything else I've used.

    Gut Full bed tension

I notice nobody yet answered your Full Bed Gut tension question:

    I'd also like to know?
I like low tension poly 36#
I also like Mid tension Gut Poly Hybrid 52#/47#

But am thinking maybe I need to go way higher on Gut as mid 50's seems too loose?

Any full bed gut users care to share what you use? Also frame and string and thickness?

    Thanks!

    Hey TenFan

Which gauge of Rip Control and what tension do you like full bed?

    Thanks!

If you use 18x20, I'd recommend 17g. If you use 16x19 like me, then 16g. I could control my shots really well with Rip since it gives me so much spin (for a multi), so I string it close to poly tension, maybe 2lbs higher.

    Thanks!

So since you like LTec at 44#; you like Rip at 46#?

I wasn't sure the tension you prefer?

    Thanks!

When i started using full bed gut I did Tonic(longevity) at 53 pounds I think. It was in a RDS 001 MP and was low power somehow( i did a thread called "my experience with tonic").

I have done full gut at 64,62(too tight with no dwell time) and then went to 58 and finally I found that im comfortable at 60(wilson gut). I can produce as much spin like I used to do with poly. (playing now with a yones vcore 95d with plenty of lead on from 10-11 and 1-2)

I do have chronic TE and even though playing with full bed im off right now again with a swallow forearm and elbow.
60 pounds in a good brand gut its a good beginning.

60/58, like most who use gut, or a little higher.

I've been using Bab nat gut 16 full bed on two sticks. One stick strung at 58 (mid tension) other at 53 (bottom recommended for my stick). I prefer the 53 for serving (more free power) and 58 for volleys (more control).

    Most normal polys I string at 48 - 52. It's only LTec at 44. I'd go with Rip at 48 -52.
