my white ballistic 1.3's are filthy and definatly need to be washed, the little nubs are stained greenish from grass, will putting them in the washing machine clean the nubs and will the shoes not be damaged?

From what i understand putting shoes in the washing machine is a bad idea i use a product called Goo Gone or something like that anyway its a powerful cleaner just put some on a rag and use some elbow grease :) its works well on the drag-on on my vapours

I know running shoes break down if you put them in the washing machine. Don't know about tennis shoes, but they are made from similar materials so I'd think it would not be a good idea. I always clean the soles of my shoes with some general cleaner (like Formula 409 or Fantastik) and a wet toothbrush. Spray it on, scrub with the wet brush, and rinse off.

You can machine wash them but do not machine dry them.

if you put the shoes in the washing machine, i recommend placing each shoe in a separate pillow case and tie a knot. I have done this many times with other shoes (Nike running shoes) and have had great results. You must take shoe laces off as well as the insoles of the shoe and then dry them outside or over a vent in your house.

1 old toothbrush + some anti-bacterial soap = works great.
