Tennis Players and Tounaments in Washington DC

I'll be in DC the last week of June for work but would like to add some tennis to the trip. I'm looking for some 5.0+ players to hit with and some input on the Skip Davis tournament in Pacoma Park.

    Thanks,
    Eric

I haven't lived in DC for several years, but that tournament historically is pretty tough. If you look at the draw for last year, you'll see Dexter Macbride won the men's 35's. He played at Trinity when the school was a D1 powerhouse and has been a top rated age group player for several years. I think they play it at Catholic University, so the courts are pretty nice. Looks like there is also a tournament in Silver Spring that same weekend.

Just drive to Four Seasons in Arlington, VA or is it in merrifield. Make sure you call them and ask for a pro to hit with.

The Four Seasons is in Merrifield, VA, just off of the beltway.

Also, try any of the Sport and Health Clubs or Fairfax Racquet Club.

how long is the drive to Merriifield? I'm not going to have a lot of time to go driving looking for places so I would prefer places that are close to the Capital...maybe that's not so easy to do.

Thanks for the info. I looked on the USTA Site for the Mid Atlantic/ DC district but don't see any listing for a tournament in Silver Spring only the listing for the Skip Davis.

Go to Hains Point in DC

IF you want a good place to hit inside of DC, try Eastren Potomac tennis down in the DC Tidal Basin at Hains Point. You could even walk there from the Smiothsonian Metro stop.

It's a very cool place, basically a national park devoted to tennis.

It will save you a drive all the way out to VA.

thanks that looks great! I also just found the Rock Creek Tennis Center website which looks like another option and run by the same organization.
