    Hi, I'm back. :D

    I was searching for a "WCT Finals"-thread but I couldn't find it...

I want to ask you what do you think about that match point...

Was it good? You can see Lendl contesting it on the video... some people in the comments also said that it wasn't good. What about it?

Lendl was correct - the ball was not good. This is why we now lace the nets tightly against the posts. Why was this not done in Dallas??

And Lendl lost another WCT final on a net cord to Becker.

Yeah, the ball was clearly not good. Mac could have stepped up and done the right thing-he may have actually earned my respect had he done so. But he didn't. I remember the aftermath of this and Lendl came out looking better even though many did not find him to be a likable guy.

That was the 1988 Masters final. The winning netcord came after an epic rally lasting over 40 strokes.

Dallas 83 may have been the turning point/reverseal on Mac´s losing series against Lendl ( 1981/82), it is fair that a turning point starts with that ball turning into the other side of the let...

It's awesome how the ballboy ducks in perfect time. Had he not ducked, that ball would have smacked him upside the head

One thing I always enjoyed about Dallas and the WCT finals is that, its final match, has many times offered some of the best tennis played in the modern era.1972,1975,1979,1980,1983,1987 had great finals and 1983 is one of its best.

and another amazing fact is that, most of the finals were 4 setters.Only 1972 ( the classic 5 setter between Rosewall and Laver), 1978 (Gerulaitis straight setted Dibbs), 1981 (Mac destroyed Kriek), 1983 ( the classic Lendl-Mac final), 1984 ( peak Mac toyed with Connors), 1985 (Lendl smacked Tim Mayotte) and 1989 (Mac´s last show) didn´t go to 4 sets...

Mac had beaten him a couple of months earlier in Phily.

WCT Finals 1983 vs Masters 1988

Both of these Lendl lost in the 5th set tie break. I think that, even though Lendl was right that actually that final point with the post incident - actually Lendl had won - he was a long way behind in that tie break - so he would have very likely lost anyway.

The netcord in the 5th set tie break in the 1988 Masters against Becker - was a lot more heart breaking. The tie break was much much closer and could have gone either way.
