After reclaiming the number 1 spot, for how long do you think he will holding the number 1 spot by the end of his career?

Less than 300. The Olympics will see the rise of Nadal (and Djokovic) once again. Federer was extremely lucky to manage to get the ranking back.

Yep, winning Basel, Paris Indoors, WTF without losing a match, Rotterdam, Dubai, Indian Wells, Madrid and Wimbledon is just Roger being extremely lucky. Not to mention the consistent deep runs through all those other events, only failing in Miami to reach the final four at least.

Yep, extremely lucky to have done that on all surfaces, in a variety of conditions.

I think this point has been debated in other threads with similar title (pls look).
    300 is quite possible.
Who is this chap who keeps saying hello in various threads ? :D Seems like a jovial, out-going chap (the kind who would 'take others out' early)

Someone would need to go on a tear ala Nole or Fed could stay at the top for a long time. Rafa does not do well on the US hardcourts and Nole has alot of points to defend. I think either Rafa or Nole would need to win the next two slams if Fed is playing decently.

I voted between 300-325. Even if both Nadal and Djokovic outplay him at the Olympics, he's got WAY less to defend than Djokovic through the US Open, so he could get that ranking back after Canada/Cincy/USO depending on their respective performances.

If he wins the Olympics and/or Djokovic goes out earlier, a good Summer HC season means he likely finishes the year #1 overall, giving him 300+ weeks.

He may only hold it for another couple weeks, but I think he can get it back later this season if he loses it.

I think he'll get 300. Even if he loses it at the Olympics, he has a chance of getting it back at one of the Masters events immediately following.

    Relax folks, ...
He'll probably be no.1 for most of the weeks leading up to the WTF, I think. It could easily change hands at WTF, but realistically, Roger has a genuine shot at 350 + weeks now. If he can end the year as the no.1, there is still so much for Nadal and Djokovic to keep up, such as finals and victories at both the AO and RG. I think the no.1 position will be somewhat going back and forth between the 3 for the first half of next year and maybe beyond.

It's likely that Federer will lose #1 spot right after Olympics only to get it back few weeks later when Novak fails to defend some of his North American hard court points and then lose it again if Federer fails to defend some of his indoor points. It will be very interesting next few months. It would be awesome if he ended the year at #1. Sampras would have no real records left and jacson vile would go into hiding again after coming back when Federer loses at USO or Olympics.

I wouldn't say it's likely that he'll lose it at the Olympics. If Djokovic's form from Wimbledon holds, he probably won't win the title - and Federer has a great shot. If he gets Nadal in the semis (and not the final), he has a great shot at winning the whole thing. If Nadal falls early, he also has a great shot at winning the whole thing.

Yeah rise of Nadal. Get real Nadal can't even get to #2 if both Novak and Roger tank the first matches.
