My serve is currently really bad (bad timing, bad toss, etc), and I'm going to try using Patrick Dougherty's simplified serving technique: http://www.youtube.com/feed/UC2LThnGnWbhJk1a-gqvJhSA/u One of the features I thought was interesting was that with this technique he suggests keeping your weight on the front foot during the whole toss, so that you don't have to worry about balancing or really shifting your weight very much. It made me wonder, why do a lot of servers (maybe most?) keep their weight partially or mostly on the back foot during the toss then transition to the front foot? You can see that when guys lift the toe of their front foot while tossing; some even lift the front foot off the ground entirely (like Safin, I guess). Why can't you just begin with the weight on the front foot, if that's where you need to end up anyway? thanks!
