What things do you have to have on you at all times tennis related? If you had a small bag and couldn't keep 12 racquets and 4 shirts, what would you HAVE to have in it ALL THE TIME?

    2 racquets. Food. Water.

That is the minimum I would need if I were going to play tennis for several hours.

This thread title is a bit misleading, but I can't play tennis without having a decently new string job. I must have it!

For a small bag I would suggest what others are already suggesting. Two racquets, a can or two of balls, sweatbands and towel if you're a heavy sweater, overgrips and shoes. I will play for 2-4 hrs, sometimes longer, and this is all I need. I could do with one racquet. You can also wear things to the court if you don't have the room in the bag likes shoes and wristbands. Keep in mind that I ride my bicycle to the court so although I have a 9 pack Dunlop bag, keeping the weight down is important.

hmm, i used to do the bike thing too and weight was never an issue, though my back did tend to hurt after the long rides.

I have long hair that annoys me while playing so a hat/bandana is key for me, though usually i wear that hat around all the time.

Water, racket and balls are the essentials for me.

funny you would mention having a small bag. i have one of the 2 racquet backpack style bags, which is PERFECT for riding bike to the court! it's made very comfortable with padding and the around the waist strap to keep it down when you ride. So far i have a 2 racuets, 2 cans of balls, shoes, and a pen. I should probably order overgrip and dampeners also.

In summer only, but now that I discovered it (well someone else let me use theirs first) I can't play without that Prince anti-sweat balm stuff for the palms of my hands. Great stuff! (for us sweaty folks)

A hat, headband or bandana. I feel naked when I play without something around or ontop of my head.

All I need is water, racket, balls, stringer, and a couple hundred sets of natural gut that also double as my food supply.

Besides the minimal, like racquets, balls, shoes, socks, I can't play without a hat. My hair really annoys me during matches if I don't use a hat.

I'm not into bandanas to use them.

    Good thread idea.

During summer: change of clothes, some balls, a hat, notebook, socks, extra pair of shoes; just the basics

    In order of priority:

    1) Insect repellent and more insect repellent (swarming no-see-ums will ruin your game faster than anything else)
    2) Towels (lots of humidity in the south)
    3) Hat
    4) Gatorade mixed at half strength with lots of ice.

Then two racquets and new balls.

In case you don't know what a no-see-um is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceratopogonidae
