He's a portuguese player, ranked at 70 this week.

He had some nice results the last few weeks, being eliminated by Nadal at Miami, and ousting Lubjicic at Casablanca.

Did anyone saw his game against Nadal? He's at his best ranking right now and will probably go up nest monday.

I saw him play against Nadal and was quite impressed. How old is he?

whatever he does, he should stop wearing black socks with white tennis shoes.

but if you expect a big things from him look elsewhere.

Agreed. Gil is a solid player with a lot of will to win. sort of Canas like...never gives up.
But this is as far as it goes, technically he's ok but I'd not bet on him breaking the top 20.

My coach talked last week with his coach and he told him that Gil will play more ATP tournments this year because he doesn't have money problems "no more", you know..

I'm portuguese, so I'm looking foward to see he getting into top 50 xD

He was actually outplaying Nadal at some points in the first set. He has a very nice game and it's a shame he lost a bit of confidence after he lost that set (he looked a bit tired too). Very likeable player.

I saw him play against Nadal and thought he did quite well.
I hope he can keep getting consistent results and improve his ranking.

I thought he was sponsored by Lacoste, is he without a sponsor at the moment?

O rapaz está a sair-se bem, pode ser que se preste um pouco mais de atenção ao ténis em Portugal, fora o Estoril Open.
    Força aí.

No, can't make it to Estoril Open. Diverte-te por lá :)

I was thinking about going to Wimbledon though, but my schedule probably won't work out.

If the kid was 3-5 years younger, then I'd say he had a shot at something fairly big (not a slam or anything like that, but good results across the board). But since he's middle-aged, I expect him to make a nice run at some clay events or some hardcourt events or a nice QF or 4th round run at the French or something like that.

I'm thinking about going to US Open before I go to the University. Eu vou me divertir, à espera de ver um Gasquet-Nalby na final xD
