Well as everyone saw, Jimmy Jump invaded the Roland Garros final. He's well known for doing these sorts of things, having done so many times in the past, including running on the track during a Formula 1 race. I'm wondering why hasn't he been banned from all sporting events, and also what you think of him?

jimmy jump means no harm, he is kind of like a half time show. However, security should be more wary of these kind of things since monica seles got attacked.

I think hes a total azz, he should be banned from ALL sports. Someone desperate for attention, a real shame.

Remember the hobbling scene from the movie "Misery"? That would seem like an effective deterrant to Jimmy Jump's antics.

Sounds like that French guy who climbs buildings, I can't remember his name. I hate these attention seekers.

I think he's a PITA. People are over reacting saying that he should of been killed, water boarded etc. I think Federer realized who it was when he saw him and that's why he wasn't as shocked when he came near him. Just more annoyed.

He's an utter wanker. If he had pulled that kind of crap at the US Open there's a good chance a security guard would have shot him.

I hope he gets the **** sued out of him and does a full term in jail.

I hope doesn't get off with no jail time at all like Gunter Parche who stabbed Monica Seles.
I know this will sound as way to harsh for most, but I hope he is subjected to any torture Inspector Clouseau chooses to dole out.

I just got this image of him being dragged off court in New York and then when everyone's quiet and play is about to start again you hear a single gun shot. Then they keep playing like nothing happened.

I tell you what I would love to see him pull that stunt at the Shanghai masters. After he's experienced being man handled by Chinese security, he would then get some time in a Chinese prison, where they probably would torture him.

I don't think Federer would want to do that. I think it was David Boon the Aussie cricketer who did something similar to this nude streaker in one of the test series and the streaker sued Boon for assault.

Boon paid nothing I bet because he can bring up self defense reasons. Unknown person coming onto the field is a security risk. That in itself already warrants self defense.

Full text from his press conference.

I like how he thought the guy at Wimbledon was funny (but note how he told the guy to "just don't touch me"), but was freaked out by this guy because he didn't say anything and he couldn't tell what he wanted.

He's an idiot. IMO it's kind of ok to come onto the scene and run around a bit, (of course it's not good but it doesn't do any harm). As long as you immediately show to the players you don't have bad - Seles-like - intentions and don't touch one of the players. He was way out of line by touching Roger

Totally, he could have killed Federer. It's because of jackasses like that, that they have such overbearing security at sporting events in the first place. Personally I think he should have done jail time and been banned from ALL sporting events after the Formula 1 thing.

How he was even allowed onto the grounds in the first place is beyond me.

Yea, I agree. He definitely shouldn't have been touching the players. And even if he just gets on the court and runs around, it's still not good.

Maybe some people think, "ok, it's harmless, nothing happened". But it is because of people like him that security has to be so tight, that fans without any intent to do anything idiotic like that have to deal with it.

    He should be in jail.

    He's not funny.

There is security but it is incapable of stopping anyone.

You need a reaction time of under 5 seconds and a gun at the ready if you really want to stop anyone.

He needs prison to get it into his thick skull not to do this again.

Jimmy Jump's awesome, he invaded the pitch during the Euro 2004 final, threw a Barcelona shirt at Figo (who'd betrayed them and gone to Real Madrid) then scored a human goal.

This time it turned out generally ok--disrupted the match but no real harm done. However, tennis (frankly all sports) needs to do something about the security threat. First, maybe some sort of barrier can be put in place to make it difficult for the Jimmy Jumps of the world (or more malicious characters) to get onto the court. Second, real security folks need to be put around the court--the Keystone Cops act of the FO security folks looked like something off of Benny Hill--the sport (and the ATP should insist) or serious bada** security guys. Third, the penalty needs to be far more severe--jail, $50K fine, plus a lifetime ban from all events (and the ban should include all accomplices). Surely if the sport is going to ban some crazy tennis parent, it should ban these types of interlopers.

What do I think of Jimmy Jump--he's a classless punk who should be jailed for awhile and banned from our sport--on the other hand, maybe he provided a wake up call to get serious about security.

So it wasn't just a random fan. I still think he should move to the US and get a job as a mascot for some team. Watched the video-I love the look on Soderling's face.
