    Yes.

    But nadal was #2 for a long time..and his stay at #1 greatly compromised because of federer mainly.

    The biggest difference assuming rafa and pete are about equal on slams..is sampras stay at #1.

    Sampras has rightful claim to be the best of his generation.

    Nadal's case is nowhere near as clear because of his stay at #2 to federer and djokovic.

    Every event count, even an ATP250. While there's no indoor slam, you can't just ignore the entire indoor season, especially when the WTF is the 5th biggest tournament of the year.
