I'm planning on trying some hybrid strings because I'm always breaking mains and was wondering what string gauge most people use.

I like to have good feel and feedback from my strings and like to use the thinnest possible gauge on the mains, with a similar or slightly thicker cross. My idea setup would be 19/17. A 19 main is only possible with aramids. For polys, the thinnest would be 18 or 17L.

I usually have 17g crosses with whatever gauge mains I'm using. One racquet has 16g gut, the other has 17g RedCode that I wanted to try. I'll probably go with 17g gut and 17g crosses - perhaps getting another racquet to string an 18g poly in.

16 mains Signum Poly Plasma (53lbs)
17 crosses Signum Ultra SF (55lbs)

    Thanks,
