After making the QF at Wimbledon last year and starting the year off with a semi in Brisbane and 4th round in Melbourne, Tomic has really fallen off. He is now on a 6 match losing streak including today's 0 and 4 loss to Paire in Gstaad.

    Results since January:

    R1 Memphis loss to Dodig
    QF Delray loss to Isner
R1 Indian Wells loss to Muller
    R2 Miami loss to Ferrer
R2 Monte Carlo loss to Dolgopolov
    R2 Barcelona loss to Montanes
    QF Munich loss to Lopez
    R1 Madrid loss to Stepanek
    R2 Rome loss to Djokovic
    R2 Nice loss to Kukushkin
R2 Roland Garros loss to Giraldo
    R1 Halle loss to Haas
R2 Eastbourne loss to Fognini (1st round bye)
    R1 Wimbledon loss to Goffin
R2 Stuttgart loss to Bellucci (1st round bye)
    R1 Gstaad loss to Paire

He's suffering the pitfalls of home schooling - a unique style brings initial success but there's not a solid basis.

maybe hes just not that good. i think he has top 20 potential in the future but i dont really see him climbing all the way to the top. atv least not from what weve seen so far

It's too bad, because it's nice to see young upstarts doing well in big events. I feel like recently we've been teased with Tomic, Raonic and Dolgopolov, all making some good runs in larger tournaments, but no one doing anything consistently.

Hoping one of those three above, or Dimitrov can do something of real substance in the last half of this year.

Problem with Tomic's game is he seems to just slap at the ball.
