It is a POG with a black paint job. He was using his radical pj around the same period but switched back to the POG for some reason.

Yo. I believe for a few torneys in 98, Ag man went back to the POG. It certainly looks like a POG anyway.

it is not a POG. this is just before the ti line came out from head and they made a racquet called ti control, i think thats the name, and he was trying it out. it had the cross beam just like the POG and a slightly smaller head. this is fact.

I'm not a paintjob conspiracist by any means but his stick looks to big to be a Head radical....could be a POG.

tommytom11 might be right. there are some pictures of gustavo kuerten using a racquet that looked similar with the crossbar, but with a pj. those photos of guga are probably from around the same time.

Guga used the Head Ti.Fire Tour Edition or Pro, which has a crossbar, for a while. Perhaps Agassi used the same racquet?

Several years ago, Agassi did try a new prototype racket for Head that later became the production Fire model.

Thats a POG. Looks like its oversize. Think Head Heat and Fire only in 100" (660) head sizes, and beam sizes were thicker, about 23mm. ;)

I was stringing some rackets for Agassi at this period and it was a POG for sure. Only six main strings inside the throat, all Head rackets which came out some months later and had a cross bar had 8 main strings inside the throat or they were smaller and/or had a higher beam. I know the POG since 25 years and I recognize a POG when I see one. And this was a POG.
At Munich he was asked in a press conference which racket he uses at the moment. He answered that it's a Head prototype, but he couldn't hide a BIIIIIIG smile.

definetely a POG with a black head paintjob to not let know anyone know what brand it actually is.....he could have changed but he has a lifetime contract with HEAD and the POG is a very well known racquet so head was only able to paint the string with its logo cause if it painted the racquet it was to obvious head was covering a POG

that picture is from April 1998. he might have been trying different racquets, outfits and all sorts of things after getting his a ss kicked by Rios in the final of Key Biskayne couple of weeks before in three straight sets.

--- and please pardon my ignorance, but can somebody tell me what POG is for goodness sake?

    Well Thanks guys...

I am a believer in pjs but not really a supporter and i would have to concur that its either a POG pj (very likely) or its a test racket for the head ti fire/heat series... I have had a Ti Fire pro edition b4 and its quite the players racket... hefty weight, smaller head than the ti fire and plenty of control... might also be that piece there...

    Thanks again

That is a POG. Even when he used heads frames, they were custom and not the same as retail. I was in **** a few years ago and the guy let me have a look in the pro cubbies and hold the rackets, Agassi had like 25/30 Radicals PJS and a bunch of Instints, I belive they were actually that frame as well. The benefits of being a pro, by the way, Agassi looked to cool back then with the shaved head.

Sweet, thanks for the input. With your ability to get inside info, have you ever heard of which version(s) of the POG Agassi was using, or maybe which was in those pics?

that was a period when agassi was trying to get his game back from being ranked 100+ in the world so he was probably hitting with the pog to try to get his old game and confidence back
