What if Kuznetsova wins the doubles too?

Did anyone achieve this before? I think the chances aren't too bad. If Dementieva didn't walkover from the doubles semis, we might have seen those two facing each other in the doubles final again. That would have been really funny. By the way, I guess Ai Sugiyama must be pretty mad about Dementieva.

Sugiyama and Dementieva would not have beaten Ruano-Pascual and Suarez, They are the best doubles team in the world period.

I suspect that they may have had an agreement that if necessary, their doubles would be sacrificed for their singles (for example, if either made the singles final). Even without that, I think Sugiyama would be quite understanding that Dementieva would want her best chance to win her first Grand Slam title in singles (plus a million dollars!). I also think Dementieva's injury played a big part. Without being injured, perhaps she would've played the doubles match.

Svetlana is not going to forfeit this dubs match. She practiced over 90 minutes BEFORE the final. Had some 3.0 lady serve lollipops to her forehand to practice crushing them.
