Natural gut is better than all multis but I agree Tecnifibre multi's are closest.

    1. NRG2 17G - my favorite multi
    2. X1 Biphase 16G - excellent multi but it notches faster than NRG2 in poly hybrid
    3. MultiFeel - if you can still find it. Very good feel but durability not as good as NRG2

TF strings also rate very high in retaining tension. I know some complain about x1 bp losing tension but NRG2 is excellent at retaining tension.

Some mentioned LaSerFibre SNGP above and it is a great multi and gut like, but LaSerFibre is a big rip-off company and it is near impossible to buy their strings.

Most people are saying Technifibre, but this is only because they haven't tried all the multis, and in particular Gamma Professional (because of its price). I've tried them all, XCel, XOne, NRG, NXT, and on and on.

They are all good, and they are all very soft and comfy.

But when it comes to feeling the most like natural gut (and I've used Babolat VS, Pacific, Klip, etc...), hands down, the closest is Gamma Professional. Guaranteed.

Most people never bothered to try it because of the price point, but you CAN find it cheaper if you know where to look.

    Shout out for discho Microfibre.

As stated many times ^^^ no synthetic string compares to gut.

Microfibre approximates the mix of crispness, power, and lack of harshness of a coated natural gut. It also holds tension very well for a multifilament string. Not as good at any of the above as NG and less spin as well. But it comes close to the whole package IMO.

More similar to natural gut than any other synthetic string.

Asking which synth is most similar to natural gut is like asking which guy is most similar to Angelina Jolie.

I convinced the person I talked about to give mantis comfort synthetic a try

#1 - It was a joy to string up, probably the easiest string job I've done.

#2 - After my client hit with it for a while I hit with it as well and I can say I really liked the feel. Seemed very soft, but had good playability and even seemed to have decent spin generation. If I wasn't a poly junky I'd probably consider using it myself.

Strung it at 50lbs on a drop weight machine in a Prince Tour Team 100racket.

Unless the reason is price, I never really understood strings with "gut-feeling". Gut plays like gut. Maintains tension better, don't go dead, lasts longer than multies (at least for me) and hence is more economical as well.

Other than that rant, yes I agree that Technifibre comes the closest.

I'd say X-cel is the most similar string to natural gut in my experience.
