This looks like a blackout frame or maybe a return to the KPS88.

It was around this time 3 years ago when the KPS88 prototype hit the stage at the Madison Square Garden exhibition with Federer.

It looks as though it is a midplus racket. It doesn't have the PWS.

But wasn't there a story/rumor/hope that Wilson was trying to lure Pete back?

which would likely explain the blacked out frame.

That's definitely not a Pure Storm....at least, it sure doesn't look like one shape/size wise...

Can't put my finger on it exactly, but I just stared at my Pure Storm and they just don't look the same. Also looks like a really small head size, but my perception could be off.

exhibition matches are serious business. sampras would bribe agassi with loads of cash and kps88s in exchange for the glorious victory

+1, It looked big from a couple of angles; head and beam.

Looks like the same pure storm blacked out with a ton of lead tape at 3 and 9.

The head shape of the racket at the 3 & 9 o'clock where the lead tape is doesn't look rounded enough like I'd expect it to be like for a babolat - it almost looks yonex-like at the sides to me. I've only hit with it once but it reminded me of the head shape of the volkl power bridge 10 mid but I'm probably way off. Any other guesses or is it still the storm? He played well with it & was solid at the net.

Is he contracted to Wilson? Why does he need to black out the frame, since he had previously used the Pure Storm Tour openly?

Whatever it is, its probably a denser string pattern that what he played with before. I noticed from the picture that the grommets on the throat are of four pairs (or 8 holes). Could it be prestige 98 or the dunlop aerogel 95?

Why would they have a blacked out Pure Storm when he already used it before. It has to be a prototype or there's no point in a blank PJ

Probably because Babolat is not paying him to endorse it, therefore they blacked it out. He's not going to give them a free endorsement.

wtf mate? haha na but idk why you pick those to random racquets to be used by pete. hes used three racquets his whole pro career. its def a blacked out pure storm. its def sponsorship issues and dont want him seen using pure storm on espn.
cant be kps 88 no PWS

When I saw Pete playing an exo match again Gael Monfils on Feb 7th at the SAP Open it appeared that he was using a Babolat of some sort -- yellow and white, if I recall correctly.

yeah it's definitely either a pure storm or pure storm tour. the bumperguard pattern, the throat grommet piece (the mains start at the top), it's all from the pure storm. not to mention, that the head shape is square looking , just like the storms. it looks like a denser pattern because storms are 16x20.

This. Storm Tour blacked out I reckon. I think this time (per P1 twitter) they were done by Nate so probably just didn't want to black them out himself earlier on.

The exo at MSG was a high-profile televised event. A lot of exposure for what type of gear was used. If there isn't a set contract with Sampras, it would be a huge benefit for Babolat without the potential financial return for Sampras. The other matches he's played, exos and senior tour weren't widely televised. People just know by pics circulating on the internet.

The legend of the Pure Storm Tour GT grows even bigger with the almighty Sampras endorsement.
