Title says it all, just wondering how popular it is there? And how about college level tennis? Do they have college teams and all that stuff there?

They don't have college (University) teams in the way they do in the US. They do have a number of local club competitions in the largest city Auckland which attract semi-pro players, some of whom have been ranked inside the top 500 (but never higher than about 200 that I can recall). Most of them get paid to play but it's not a huge amount - not enough to live on I'd say. These competitions are really good fun to watch and go from about Sept to Nov each year. There are plenty of tournaments in the Oct-March time-frame too varying from the top players in the country etc to next level down.

Tons of clubs all over the place and Auckland also hosts male and female tournaments in early January in the lead-up to the Australian Open. They usually attract a couple of top ten players and a dozen or so top 50 players to each.
