what is the purpose of tensions?

    so i usually get a string tension of 60, but i see people with 40, 50, and 55, whats the purpose of a loser tension and tighter tension? and what is better? ty

    Lower tensions allow for more power while higher tensions give more control. But very high tensions can also give your arms some trouble. Mid range 55 lbs or 25 kilos is probably a good point to start with if you have never chosen the tension on your racquets.

    A rule of thumb for rookies I guess is getting racquets strung at 2 lbs over the middle of the suggested tension.

    Example - If a racquet suggests to string at 55-65, string it at 62.
