He has troubles against the very best players? In Paris he played a horrible horrible match against Djokovic IMO. The last part that I saw, anyway.

I don't know. I think he's a very good player, but tends to give up easily when things are not going his way, with the exception of the match against Djokovic in Paris, probably because he was playing in front of his home crowd with so much encouragement and support.

Didnt know what went on with him and Stepanek though, looking from the scoreline it sure seemed like he gave up.

He should have won against Nadal US Open 2009. He is near his peak years and he has massively underachieved

It just wasn't his day today. Everything he tried didn't work out, I don't think he could've done much more.

He struggles because he either pushes, moonballing the ball to the center of the court OR he plays a game that's way too aggressive. He needs to find a happy medium if he hopes to succeed.

I think he hasnt found a way to really lift himself that extra 5% or 10% he also wastes alot of attacking ability. I think he needs a new coach! I definately see him as a multiple slam finalist but doubt that will ever happen

    IMO, his attitude on court.

He's often too flamboyant, bordering on being pretentious almost. He has some kind of over the top reaction to almost every point.

I think he has a solid game and can improve on it. He just needs to calm down on the court and think about the points.

Well said. That on-court attitude of his... - to me, he looks as if he's actually trying to injure himself with every shot he makes. Painful to watch.
And guess what, I read he was complaining about a sore shoulder after his match with Stepanek. Yeah, Mr. Monfils, just ask yourself how come... :-?

Based on the way he plays, I think he puts too much energy early in the match only to burn out in the end. Against non-top players, he can get away with. But in the hands of more experience players, he just runs out of gas (or gets injured during high risk points...).

He barely won any tourneys in his career. He has only 2 small tourney wins in his career so that`s not a lot.Till winning a big tourney there is a lot of work to do
