What is wrong with Murray's thigh?

For years he has been clutching his thigh multiple times during matches. Often he will also hop as if to favour the other leg after he bungles a forehand or loses a point.

What ailment does he suffer from or is it a gamesmanship tactic or form of nervous tic he developed years ago that he can't stop?

It's to make people think he must be in pain that's why he lost the previous point.

He has a congenital condition (bi-partite patella) that sometimes leads to transferred pain in his quads.

You'll often see him stamp his foot as well - that's him trying to free it up.

Nervous tic I'd say. Jim Courier has commented on how he will always grab his hamstring/shoulder/quadriceps whatever every single time he loses a point.

How does bi-partite patella know to refer pain only when he loses a point?

Sorry, but I'll call horseshit on that. He clutches high up on this thigh, sometimes even his hip. The ailment you mention doesn't seem to refer to thigh pain in the list of symptoms I can find.

Well it only seems to hurt when he's losing or in a bad spot :)

You asked me if he had a condition and I told you. I have been told he has some transferred pain from his knee. Feel free to disbelieve me.

I'm sure that he also clutches some phantom pains too.

It's called playing possum. He mastered this years ago but I thought he stopped doing it since working with Lendl.

I think someone who's watched him from Junior years should weigh in. Is it something he's done before when reacting to a lost point?
