I have been messing aroung with different dampeners for a while, may it be the babolat RVS, the sampras "O", the forten inchworm or anything else, i have found that nothing works better than a good old #64 rubber band. The aggassi special. What has worked for you all? It can be anything, Hair ties, Ballons? it can be anything

For me, the best dampener is NONE. I don't know, but I can't get used to a dampener. I don't mind being penalized for miss hits, since it helps me to know if I am hitting the sweetspot or not.

Rubber band #64. Can't stand the racquet's feel or sound without one. Nothing else is the same, though the Sampras O isn't bad.

Personally I hate dampener but I put a rubber band at the VERY bottom of the string bed. I got sick and tired of those players in the club trying to convince me to use a dampener. They even offer me a free one from time to time! Every time it takes me 5 min to explain to them why it's pointless. :( The rubber band at the bottom of the racket helps me to avoid their question but won't take away any feel from the racket.

My favorite one is the discontinued Wilson O dampener. Similar to the Sampras O but slightly smaller and for some reason, I just prefer it. I wish I had more of them.

Gamma worm or double worm. They seem to completely kill any feedback off of the strings. Nice and dead the way I like it, and no ping sound either.

I tried one of those, and it added possibly the worst feeling to my racket ever... But they are pretty sexy looking lol...

Anyways... I use the red Sampras O

    Anything else doesn't feel right.

Always been a Sampras "O" Damp fan and they're only 1.75 for 2 a H-Bird by my house, but a hitting partner recently turned me on to the rectangular Prince NXG dampener, cheap and never comes out of the strings, ever...so far

Me too! I used to dampen, but something got me back to playing with a naked racquet... Guess I just like to hear the string bed talking, as it were, letting me know when I hit well and when I don't.

+ 1...the black one plays better for some reason...no joke.
I think dampeners do help with my game. I get a more solid response and an even more cushioned feel.

I love the Wilson Shock Trap. Doesn't fall off and dampens really well. I think it's made for more open string patterns though as when I put mine on first it skewed the strings. I just cut the slits for the mains a little deeper and it solved the problem.
