that would be a extreme/full western.
Yes the optimal striking zone is ear level.
she´s a magician.. no eye contact with the ball?
Even that, Paola Suarez is part of the #1 women team, won several GS titles.
that actually looks horribly painful
That position is similar to when you are curling a dumbell. Your hand is pretty much in a fist facing you.
but plays paola suarez normaly a western grip???
I'm sure she just used that grip for that high shot. It looks like the shot was a high topspin shot coming up near her head. She used that grip to get the best result.
That's the grip I use for my Slice Serves, lol.
damn, that's more than an extreme western
I'd say it is one step further than an full western. If a heap of pro's were snapped in the same position they would all be looking slightly ahead of the ball. The example given is extreme tho, i would say she has turned her head slightly with the shot.
Is that like a Berasategui grip? That is insane, and yes, does look painful.
And I believe we have our winner here...
Could have been a high kicking second serve too.
I think she meant to hit a backhand but changed her mind without changing the grip.
LOL!! Got a kick to her right so just flipped the racquet over hehehe
