They all use logo-less grey lead tapes. I think that it's 3M lead tape that they all use, but does anyone know for sure? Yes, even the Babolat guys use this kind of lead tape. I find this surprising, considering that Babolat makes a very good one and it has the Babolat logo and name. I mean, wouldn't Babolat want their guys to use their own lead tape? Apparently, the raquet customizers just work the grey stuff! Anyway, is it 3M?

Lead tape is lead tape. As long as the weight and size are the same, why prefer the use of one specific brand? ;) Anyway, there are other substances besides lead tape, such as silicone, to help customize weight and balance of rackets.

"there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers."

those words are just pointless to say to someone, especially on the internet, when i'm sure no one takes things personally anyway, except people who are out of the loop, or didn't get the reality check memo. just be cool.. he was just asking a simple question.

The majority use just plain old 1/2" lead tape

It doesn't matter which tape. It just matters how much and where.

ACTUALLY, it does matter. Different companies use different densities of tape, different types of adhesives, and all sorts of things. The 1/2" Babolat is WAY denser then the 3M, which is denser still compared to teh tapes used by two well known tuning shops, and even that is denser then the Gamma brand lead. The 3M adhesive on the back of their lead, it is stickier and a big heavier as well as compared to other brands out there. To say all lead is the same, is to say that all duct tape or electrical tapes are the same. And yes, when working with exact numbers, it can and does make a HUGE difference.

Lead tape is different.. very different.

Just weighing a babolat, 3m, no name on a scale produces 3 different weights

I started this thread the other day and never read the replies, until now... Did Hewittfan22 call me an idiot? I took the time of reading back at just some of her/his posts and, oh boy, I can tell you, it's obvious that this individual has been gifted with a superior intelligence. I feel so honored, lol.
