Looks like Serena dusted her opponent Marta Marrero 6-1 6-0 in her first match for eight months. It took all of 42 minutes. Watch out Justine, Serena has you in her sights!

Playing devil's advocate, I can't believe she lost a game to Marta Marrero! Serena's done.

I think it is too early to say, Ballmachine. Venus' first match against a much tougher opponent Hackleroad in Australia Open early this year was like 6-1 6-1. You know what happenned against Raymond and SK later. Marrero was merely a qualifier. You need to see her against tougher opponents to know where she is now.

I have no doubt Serena will fare much better than Venus in her comeback because Serena has less weakness to be explored.

I think you will be disappointed if you expect Serena to dismantle JHH anytime soon. JHH has played Serena tough except on grass and very fast hard court even when Serena was dominating everyone else on the tour. Serena has lost to JHH 3 times in one year period of time 2002-2003 while Serena was on top of the world, although all on clay. The biggest improvement JHH has made since is her serve. Her second serve used to be so weak she double faulted a lot. But not any more.

We will see soon since both will play Amelia Island and Family Circle cup right after Miami.

THE HAND is a better clay court player than Serena. At the (German or Berlin?) Open she came back from losing a set 6-0 or 6-1 and won the match. I would say THE HAND is the favourite over Serena at Roland Garros. Serena will pound her if they match up at Wimby.

I know that it is way too early to make any judgements on Serena's play, especially since they didn't televise the match, but it won't be long until she goes deep in every tournament that she enters. The women's tour is so shallow that it is pathetic. Could you imagine any men's player on the ATP tour being away from the game for 8 months and then beat their first opponent so soundly? It wouldn't happen, even if they were playing a qualifier or rookie wildcard player. Even though Safin made a marvelous run at the Australian Open, most of his matches were close, going 5 sets, and even those that weren't 5 sets were still competitive.

What's the point of this post? Virtually half of all WTA Tour players win any given match 6-0, 6-1. The other half loses 6-0, 6-1.

And Likhotsova literally couldn't keep the ball in play.
