Just wanted to get a general idea of what everyone is using.

If you are experimenting just vote for what you would normally use.

Please feel free to post your exact string set up

Opption 7 means containing either syn gut or natural gut sorry if this was not made clear

Multifilament. Is there supposed to be a poll with this?

I use a hybrid of a soft poly and a soft multifilament to 'soften' my racquets up (in signature).

    Hi gunnd, hope you're well.

Generally syn gut (RAB TexFlex 16) at 58 in my AG200's. A bit of experimenting with Endura Edge in the mains has left me fairly disappointed.

Want to try natural gut mains with Luxilon crosses a la Federer but have neither in stock so saving to get some in. Once up and running my thought process is to keep the gut in for 4 restrings as it won't lose too much tension, and change the crosses fairly regularly. I estimate that this method will cost me an average of well under £9 per restring in materials assuming I replace the Lux 4x as quickly as the gut.

    Hey pimpmygame,

Im good thanks how are u

I found that lux alu rough ruins the other string in your hybrid! Maybe some string savers would help?

I'm good thanks, just not enough tennis due to the weather! Playing indoors is too expensive if done more than once a week.

Thanks for the heads up on the alu rough, I have some string savers somewhere so will bear in mind. I'm going to look like such a Federer wannabe with string savers, must get that BLX 90 ordered...

How did you make a poll including hybrids and somehow not include the most popular hybrid that there is: poly/softy or softy/poly?

For the last few years I have been using WIlson enduro pro in the mains and wilson syn gut in the crosses. But the past year I have been using either Lux Adenaline in the mains or Alu power in the mains. Strung at 60 lbs

You picked the two least common hybrids is my point. Better hybrid option would have been poly/"gut" and "gut"/poly then "Other Hybrid" :)

and i chose keval because it is one extreme and wanted to know who played with it as it is more interesting a difference between that and most hybrids

kevlar being the extreme for durability and natural gut being the extreme for comfort

i experiment with strings. i never use the same string twice in a row, but i do use almost exclusively full poly and have done for the past four years. occasionally i slip a poly hybrid in as well. i currently have about 40 different polys to try

That is neat. The search for the perfect sting and I might add perfect tension is never ending. There are so many to choose from, and of course the perfect racquet.

My main stay is RAB Endura Classic. I seem to get good power, topspin and they last a long time for me. I do like to generate a lot of topspin.

The mains are Polytec monofilament with a lubrified coating, what ever that is, and cross of high tensile core with elastone Co-polymer wraps and a thermo resin coating, whatever that is.

I just purchased two new Dunlop aerogel 4D 5hundred. They are light racquets with an open string pattern. I think I am going to love em. I have ordered a pak of Dunlop Explosive Hybrid 16 strings and thought I would give them a try in one of the new racquets. Has anyone tried those strings? I would love to hear your impression of them.

    Best regards,

    Ed

You should consider creating a thread testing out all the different polys you have tried and ones you plan to use. There are so many polys out there plus the new ones coming out, it is so difficult to figure out which one to go with.

Luckily for me, I use multis and sticking with it until I get a chance to string up a hybrid setup of gut and poly.

Full Poly for me. Used to be a hybrid of poly mains and syn gut crosses but since RPM came along its a full bed and nothing less for me.

It's surprising how many votes poly got compared to the others.

I am wondering if there are any first generation polyester users out there such as wilson enduro gold, tecnifibre poly spin, babolat duralast etc.?

I would disagree on this. Of the near 40 different strings I've tried in the last year or so, RPM is head and shoulders better than any other I've tried. It's a bit pricey but more than worth it. Just my opinion and that is why there are so many strings out there, so we can all be happy.

I'm not sure, PHT was nothing special, i actually preffered the PH in the blue colour to all of the babolat strings but thought i'de give revenge a go, probably wont get it again and will go back to ph or durolast

    Hey BHBH,

I noticed in another post that you had stated Red Code 16g plays very similar to BB Ace. I was wondering if you tried the thinner gauges of Red Code in particular the 18g ? I am looking for a slightly less expensive alternative to Ace but have yet to find something that is suitable. Would you be able to give a short comparative review of the two strings?

Typhoon blue at 50lbs. Just an awesome string. Tried ALU rough this week at 50lbs and do not prefer it to Typhoon. Less power and pocketing and too stiff. Would have to string ALU lower. But Typhoon, especially for the price, is insanely great.
