Now that we have finished the slam season, what men's final was the best and why? Here's the stats:

    Nadal def. Federer - Australian Open - 5-7, 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-3, 2-6

    Federer def. Soderling - French Open - 6-1, 7-6(1), 6-4

    Federer def. Roddick - Wimbledon - 5-7, 7-6(6), 7-6(5), 3-6, 16-14

    Del Potro def. Federer - US Open - 3-6, 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-2

I think it's a toss up between Wimby and US Open. One the one hand, you have Federer making history by winning his 15th slam, and on the other, you have history with Del Potro beating Fed for the first time in 5 years at the Open. What do you guys think?

AO had Federer/Nadal, but not a whole lot of drama. FO was a joke. Wimbledon was perhaps the second greatest match of all time, and its result produced the greatest player of all time. US Open was competitive and dramatic, but lacked a strong fifth set and a compelling storyline.

Wimbledon takes the crown in convincing fashion.

For me the FO was the one I enjoyed the most followed closely by Wimbledon.

I think the Wimbledon final was better. 3 of the 4 finals were very good/great matches though. the FO was a blow out. it's good to see that 3/4 finals went to 5 sets. makes you feel like it's really a final of the two best players in the tournament leaving it all out on the court. of course in two of the finals, Federer kind of bowed out in the end.

what sucks also is that both the 5 in a row streaks that Federer wasn't able to extend. I was pulling for Federer to win this one and hopefully next year the tour goes ballistic and 4 totally new slam winners win haha

The one I enjoyed the most was FO. Seeing fed win his first french open and complete the grand slam was amazing.

As far as tennis quality goes, I would say wimbledon, then AO, then USO.

In terms of quality, I'd go Wimbledon, Australian Open (even though I didn't see everything), US Open, then French Open, but French was the one I enjoyed since Fed finally completed his career slam.

I notice Fed is in all of those....interesting, even in a year where is no longer playing that well.

unfortunately, the wimbledon final was the best. IMO both players won. Too many errors in AO and USO, french open was a joke as someone else pointed out.

Has to be the French Open! The most historically significant slam of the past 5 years ------> Federer matched Sampras grand slam record of 14 while completing his own career grand slam.

HAHAHA, gimma a break, the final was a lame,dull,1 sided, horrible affair. Worst final i have ever seen - both players played awful and soderling acted like a joke in the ceremony - it was almost like he was out of his depth in a slam final.

    This.

No one expected Roddick to take Federer to 5 sets, and the 5th set was insane.

btw, JEU DE PAUME what was your screen name before you made a new acc? (im referring to your comments in another thread not this one, but just thought id bring it up here)

for me it s toss up between, Aus Open purely because Rafa came back after such short rest to beat Fed in a 5 set thriller, then Wimbledon because history was on the line and it was an amazing match French for because it was history made though Rfa was not there and fight for his title, and US Open though a nice match it was an error prone Fed one that i had not seen even when taken by rafa

Wimbledon. AO and USO were way too similar and both involved Federer not playing his best and falling apart in the 5th. FO was nice but not competitive enough.
