Star Wars IV A New Hope (1977) a snooze fest? What strings you smokin'? One of the GOAT. Please don't tell me you prefer Avatar or Matrix? Opinions on 2001: A Space Odyssey?

The trailer might have been better than the actual movie. I'm undecided.

    The Avengers (2012)
Great as always, but even better watching it with company.

Don't like any of them. And yes, I stand by my opinion. It's boring and the acting is terrible'
We all know you have to suspend your disbelief to make that movie entertaining  it's ok to admit it.

How to Train Your Dragon 2; I was blown away with the first one and this second installment did it again. This sequel expands off the first one so majestically and it's filled with candid splendor and touches on other themes too. I like animated movies just as much as live-action, and this has to be one of my favorites.

    Overall, quite good.

    I - the best
    II - very good
III - good, but worse than the previous
    IV - so-so
    V - meh
VI - very good, 2nd or 3rd best SAW movie
    3D - *quotes Kim Sears*

The first one is the only one I didn't see in theaters :) it was a tradition with my cousin.

I-the best-one of the best twist endings ever.
II-very good, creepy and makes you wonder wtf is going to happen?
III-As good as II but took me longer to appreciate.
IV-The ending makes you appreciate III
V-Crazy ending. A bad guy that you absolutely can't stand.
VI-very good for the same reasons as II
3D- as good as it could be. Plus I have a 3DTV and this on 3Dbluray

Imo 3D sucked a lot. The biggest bada*s in the series Mark Hoffman gets trapped by that limpy lousy doc. I heard rumours that they will make Saw 8, so I have no doubt Hoffman will escape if the movie comes out.

By the way, I chatted some time with Costas Mandylor (not a fake account) on facebook. That was 5-6 years ago. I was so damn excited, haha. But I don't have facebook anymore. I deleted my account 4 months ago.

How would you rank Star Wars from favourite to least favourite?

I watched it with my Mum and a family friend who doesn't like MA 15+ movies but she didn't realise it was rated that and I asked her to come with us not knowing that after she said she's never watching it ever again and it took her a few weeks to get over it lol I wasn't even the slightest bit worried about any of it seen more gruesome and bad language and sleeping around in my lifetime than Gone Girl!

Hoffman is such a good heel it's insane. I couldn't STAND him by the last movie.

I need to watch all the Star Wars again to give a really accurate answer.
    But probably 3, 5, 2, 6, 4, 1.

It was interesting and weird. Not great, but much better than the description would lead you to believe - when I read the plot, it sounded terrible. Overall, it was entertaining and worth watching, but it isn't great, nor something I'd likely watch twice.

    Hoffman = Triple H as a heel:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLX8UPo19Hc

He was brutal in 5-7. He killed so many people without giving a single f*ck, lol. The killing spree in VI-VII is utterly insane. Reminded me of Pat Bateman, although Pat is the benchmark, really :)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSR8WLrl8CQ

By the way, one of my best friends ranked the SW movies the exact same way :D

    For me, it is:
    1. V/VI
    2. V/VI
    3. III
    4. IV
    5. II
    6. I

The Natural(1984). Pretty average sports film. Seriously, how do these films like The Natural,Bill Durham,Field Of Dreams finish at the top of polls for best sports movies? Can't hold a candle to Raging Bull or Hoop Dreams,or even the more recent Moneyball.

Nice lol. For me it's just hard to get past a lot of the cheesiness of the older ones. And totally agree about Hoffman, he got away with way too much. After he killed the cop chick and other detective in the tape room, I was just so far past him.

They are a bit cheesy at times, but overall I find the characters, acting and stories a lot better. I also think the OT is much more emotionally involving.

As far as the PT goes, it's alright, but a little too childish at times (pod-race, JarJar). And even if the OT might be cheesy at times, nothing in it containts lines as bad as "From my point of view the Jedi are evil" or other "classics". But they are still good movies with III being the best of the PT.

Imo, had they kept Qui-Gon for II and Darth Maul for II or possibly III it would've been much, much better. I mean DM was an utter bada*s and we barely saw him in action. I think they also needed to focus more on Obi-Wan in episode I and show a bit more Jango and Boba Fett.

To each his own, I guess :)

The Drop (2014) - Tom Hardy, Gandolfini, Rapace, and Rocco (the dog, not credited).

Interesting, but the best performance was of Rocco, the dog.
    Gandolfini's last film.

Saw the first episode of Indian Summers last night. It starts in 1932 and is supposed to be about the decline of British rule in India.

However, seemed to focus too much on love affairs, trysts and adultery. Believe it or not, an Indian couple kissing mouth to mouth in 1932 !!!!!

That was some perverted sculptors porn, not real life at that time :) Some ancient suresh made those sculptures out of his fertile imagination.

When you see depictions of aircraft in ancient art, you certainly don't fall for that, do you ?

No, that is how the royals were doing it. You don't need any ancient technology for that. It is simple really - anyone can do it (well, they have to be somewhat fit to get into those positions).

Not really a cinema go'er so i've been catching up with some of the big films from last year now they've come out on DVD.

Only seen Whiplash and Birdman so far. Whiplash was incredible, the music,, the story, the ending, heart in your mouth whenever JK Simmons was on screen etc..

Birdman was just weird for the sake of it imo, loved the camerawork but the story was just, blahh. Felt like a film made by actors, for other actors.. to me anyway.

    Nightcrawler is up next.

We Need To Talk About Kevin. Wonderful movie, with Tilda Swinton. Book to movie adaptation. Kevin's mother struggles with her strange and vicious child, as he grows up. But his final act is something nobody ever imagined.
