One of the best holiday movies of all time. I feel sorry that you were not able to connect with it.
I watched it because sureshs mentioned it and started a thread about me running to the theater to watch it. It was awful, i prolly abandoned it after 30 minutes.
SAW IT, (White Gods)
really wasn't good at all...
The Russians Are Coming
slowly becoming one of my favourite movies (watching it a 6th time now)
SO 80'S LOL...
which was your favorite Jason (Fri 13th)?
I don't remember the number, but ,mine was when he faced the girl that could move things with her mind! so good...
Never been a Jason fan lol. The one that holds the most value for me is Jason goes to Hell. (seen it the most) plus the Freddy cameo
Fred in full anti hero mode at this point in time. Wanting to be the cool heel.
just reminiscing on horror, one of the last 'scary' movies that I really enjoyed when it first came out in the theatre was 'Jeepers Creepers'! of course the sequel ended up disappointing me a lot.
I'd say the only thing I found genuinely scary growing up were Freddy and Hellraiser. Amityville a bit too.
I never saw any of the Hellraiser movies...
I saw MI:5. Cruise might be (probably is) a tool in real life - but he continues to deliver with this franchise. Good summer escapist fun.
My parents were in Vienna when they were filming scenes there so are pretty keen to watch it, sounds like i'll have to invite myself along
The Vienna scenes were very good.
Rebel Without A Cause - 1955 - James Dean.
Interesting movie about moral decadence, juvenile issues, generation gap.
Good for you. Only the accent of Scott and Chekov is enough to dislike the movie.
Event Horizon - Underrated cheesy sci-fi! If you like Alien then give this a watch.
MI:5 here as well.
I thought it was very good, but I do like those sorts of films.
LOL, I saw it a few years back. Cheesy, as you say
Actually, the people I know who have met him or know him say he is really nice. I've never met him myself.
Surprisingly good. I'm a fan of the director's work, though.
I want to go see the next Maze Runner movie that comes into cinemas on September 10th!! I loved the first one and I heard it wasn't that great but I watched it on Blu Ray and loved it can't wait for this next one
Went and saw the new Mission Impossible movie yesterday. I love these movies and they are fun but this one had some silly and ridiculous stunts - like a guy holding his breath for 10 minutes.
Watched Spider-Man 3. Also awful
But his affiliation with and support of a certain very very nasty group, casts a big shadow on him.
Giant (1956) - Elizabeth Burton, Rock Hudson, James Dean.
Won Best Director award and eight other oscar nominations.
Very interesting movie about life in Texas, deals with gender and race issues, too. Three hour movie, moves slowly, but I enjoyed the slow pace, never felt the movie was long at all. Spans about 25 or 30 years and across 3 generations of the Benedict family.
James Dean's last picture. He died in 1955 aged 24, before the release of this picture. He was nominated Best Actor in a leading role along with Hudson.
I remember getting credits in an American high school by taking classes at a junior college. I wrote a paper on this film, which was a classic film even back then, not knowing who James Dean was. I referred to his "naturalistic" acting, before I knew about method acting, and got the highest grade for my, in retrospect, naive analysis.
I use to often drive between L.A. and San Francisco. James Dean died in an auto accident in his racing Porsche not far from the I-5 in Paso Robles, soon after shooting ended for the film. Like American icon Jim Morrison, James Dean use to frequent Barney's Beanery. The Doors recording studio in the band's later days was very near the bar, as was the Alta Cienaga, where Jim Morrison would often reside.
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)
Had no expectations and enjoyed it a lot.
American History X - Excellent
High Noon. Never quite understood why it was controversial? Great ending
The Big Easy - 1987 - Dennis Quaid, Ellen Barkin.
Interesting thriller set in New Orleans, drug-dealing, police corruption.
Watched "The Gift" today.
The Spirit Of The Beehive (1973)
Been wanting to watch that for a loooong time.
How was B Bhaijan ?
It was great, you'd enjoy it for sure. Now watching Results (2015)
Once upon a time in America (1984)
Watched it before but this time it was the extended version. 4 h and 11mn is very long, watched it in 2 days though. Good movie although I prefer Once upon a time in the West.
BB was good entertainment. You can suspend your disbelief for the required time. There are some subtle things that you should look out for. Like SK, a Muslim, playing a Hindu Brahmin, who goes to his uncle's home in Delhi and smells meat and gets upset that it is because of the Muslim family renting part of the home and cooking meat, and his uncle saying that is why you should never rent to Muslims. There is double irony here. Or a Muslim in Pakistan asking why SK, a HIndu from India, would care about a Muslim girl.
East of Eden - 1955 - James Dean, Julie Harris. DIr by Elia Kazan, and based on Steinbeck's novel.
4 Oscar nominations, one win for best supporting actress. Interesting movie, the only of James Dean's 3 major movies released in his lifetime which he saw completely.
The Wanderers (1979) - Good fun. Before that I watched Pather Panchali (1955),the first part of the masterpiece of Indian cinema,The Apu Trilogy
Just saw the latest Woody Allen movie, Irrational Man. It was barely OK, despite great actors. Like an intro philosophy class- Angst 101. A rehash of themes he has covered before- transparent plot- nothing new.
Anybody seen this Runallnight ? is this good ?
I saw it a couple of weeks go, and I liked it. Good action sequences.
Not a great movie, but good. 3.25/5.0.
Anyone else going to Enchanted Kingdom? This will be the first movie I've seen in a theatre in 10 years or more. It's being shown tonight (Monday) and tomorrow.
Early Kronenberg film, notorious by the early gruesome scene. It's a good movie, but it has aged quite a bit.
You get to have a look at Jennifer O'Neil though.
