+1....it could have had more characterization though! Action was pretty good.
Saw "My Architect" again recently, documentary about Louis Kahn, done by his son. More personal insights than the usual documentary, nice balance of admiration and criticism.
Bullhead .. keep you watching till the end
very good movie with outstanding performance by the lead actor
So kish and forthegame, you would definately recommend that flick?
Planing to watch it this weekend.
I mean, Reynold sucks as an actor, I have yet to see him in a decent movie.
I guess Denz safes the whole thing, he is awesome.
Good Night and Good Luck and The Social Network.
Both great, but 'Network pips it.
X-men series is always top of my list. I love them all. I'm planing to see both movies as well. hmmm we have same taste.
anyone seen shame? i want to see it but cant seem to find it.
I just saw adventure of tin tin.
It is an animation and enjoyable. It is perfect family movie, 7/10
I heard it was excellent.
The fact that Steve McQueen didn't feel the need to conceal some things added to it. At least that's what I've heard from those who've seen it.
Been wanting to watch Winter in Wartime for a while, but can't seem to find it anywhere.
Recently saw 21 Grams and Amores Perros. God, I love Iñárritu.
Kid With A Bike
Fine Belgian (in French) film about a kid struggling through foster care.
Thought the movie was lame. Not all that funny.
^^ the one redeeming feature of Horrible Bosses for me was Colin Farrell's performance, demonstrating again that he's one of the most versatile and perhaps underappreciated actors working.
LOL! Didn't realize that was him.
^^ I didn't realize it either until I saw the credits, he was that good at becoming this boss's son jerk character.
Have you seen In Bruges? I thought he was incredible in that one.
^^ I thought he was great in "In Bruges," then he plays a very convincing country singer in "Crazy Heart." Just an incredibly versatile actor.
My favorite scene, makes me laugh each time.
McDonagh did a short film called Six Shooter, I can't find a link to the whole film:
I just saw Hunger Games. It is different format of Roman Gladiator style game, killing each other. I am so sad to see so many young people drawn to this cruel movie. It should be rated at least R for adult. The movie itself was actually well done. I am just hoping it doesn't taint teenagers' mind.
LEGEND 1985(Ridley Scott) Plot made zero sense, but I only watched it to see Mia Sara. I wasn't disappointed!
"Kes" (British - 1969).
A young, likeable and mischevious boy living a drab life of abuse at both home and school learns 'life lessons' raising and training a baby kestral, a falcon-like raptor. Good film (albeit with a sad ending).
I watched the artist yesterday at home, divx... Audio out of sync and no colour at all.
50/50 surprisingly better than expected.
Battle Royale was tight
yea i read about it and was intrigued. my internet skills are declining! let me know if you see it
I am not sure about this one. As a movie based on survival in the wilderness, some scenes and ideas are very unrealistic. But this is more than a survival movie; since it deals with tough questions of life , death and faith.
Our idiot brother. I liked, it is funny and liked the whole idea in general.
pet semetary. interesting to say the least lol
has anyone seen 21 jump street? i saw that movie with my gf and her family. it was surprisingly hilarious. the story became more predictably cheesy near the end, but great laughs were delivered throughout
and i also recently saw immortals, moneyball, and clash of the titans.
moneyball was good. yet another good sports underdog movie.
immortals, after reading some reviews, was better than expected. it had substance while providing great visuals, awesome fight sequences and it wasn't dumbed down and force-fed to the audience.
clash of the titans also provided the visuals and epic-quest qualities similar to immortals, but in a lot more trite way. immortals at least incorporated good cinematography in it's visuals, clash of the titans relied to heavily on cgi with less believable/relatable acting.
both films relied on visuals to help sell the movie, and both films lacked in their delivery of the epic, it didn't feel too gratifying to finally kill king hyperion or the kraken. however i feel immortals out-delivered in clash of the titans in every aspect.
oh, and i've also seen Drive, Good Night and Good Luck, the new Footloose, and Jack and Jill recently.
Drive was great. well written, well paced, and a great character in the driver. great soundtrack. well worth watching. seriously, watch it. it will make you feel cool for owning a car, any car.
Good night and good luck was good. interesting view on the tension within america in the 50's regarding the idea of communism as well censorship in television at the time.
The Grey. Pretty good, loved the ending.
"Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans" (1927-silent film; dir. F.W. Murnau)
Midnight In Paris. Actually, Midnight In Paris vs. Dalwhinnie 15 y.o.
Scotch wins as I begin to doze off after Lightning McQueen meets the surrealists...
DISTRICT 9. Prawn city.
Super 8 - Not too bad. Sort of a fun film.
I watched "contagion" a couple weeks ago. I was hoping for some good 'ol suspense building, end of the world type stuff, in an "outbreak" type of way....what a steaming pos that was. I try to find some entertainment value in any movie but this was actually painful to watch. I mean that seriously. The acting was horrible, the editing was horrible, direction must have been horrible, they kept playing this stupid upbeat funk music while skipping through all kinds of scenes. it was truly amatuerish and completely killed any sense of suspense or urgency or emotional stress that would be expected given the situation. You wont believe the actors that were in this steamer. This goes on their wall of shame. .5/5 for a lousy collection of poorly done, emotionless scenes stiched together with poor editing and awful, missplaced music. At five minutes in, you will truly have a (wth is this?) moment and it only gets worse. The bad U.S. 90's version of "Godzilla" was twice as good at 1/5.
Dark City: Dir Cut.
Always loved the original, now I prefer the original vision and there is still nothing quite like it.
@DParis- Scotch and the pacing of a Woodie Allen flick? I'd expect the scotch to win each and every time
MI3 IMO too much action and not enough of the plot. Overall maybe 6/10
The Hunger Games. Not a bad movie. Bit of a parody of our fascination with reality tv...
Is that possible? Mission Impossible has always seemed to be more an action movie than really needing any plot. Basically an excuse for Tom Cruise to run around and blow stuff up (IMHO).
The Hunger Games and loved it.
Watched Facing Federer on youtube yesterday.
Just rewatched Anchorman. Still great. Can't wait for the sequel.
Read this comment and watched it ! Good documentary.
Visited some friends 2 weeks back, saw an animation movie (is that what you call it?) called "Rio" with the kids.
There's going to be a sequel??
Saw it like 6 or 7 years ago.. great flick.
I was kinda disappointed by Hunger Games, probably because i'm not really into Sci-Fi.
Also saw Defiance, great movie even though the story line was kinda forseeable.
