Gerry(2002) maybe the most tedious film I've seen. Not the worst, but surely the most boring
Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow
Enjoyed it much more than I expected to. And the alien species was particularly well done I thought.
Episode 10 was a let down. Nothing much, they just seem to be dragging The Strain to the final episode.
it was big. I wonder what the sequel will look like . I think the alien will come back with the vengencein next episode, hopefully cruise will get to make out with her.
OMG OMG, Mockingjay trailer is here........OMG it is so good it is sending chill down my spine....
The Odd Couple - 1968 (Mathau and Jack Lemmon). Funny. Enjoyed.
Lemmon, the neurotic neat-freak, reminded me of some real-life people.
O.M.G. I've just been to see Pride and I can honestly say it's one of the very best films I've seen in a long time. Funny, sad and extremely heartwarming, it's really one of those films that leaves you with tears in your eyes and a huge smile on your face when you leave the cinema. I loved it!
Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice
I cried so much on the last movie. will this make you cry again ?
The show needs more fun characters like that Hispanic con man who is just fun to watch. Him and his big homie were good.
The female doctor is a giant bore, just eye candy.
Its dragging a bit, they killed off Sean Astin too soon.
Still something to look foward to me, there is just nothing on Sunday nights.
I'm looking foward to the Walking Dead except it looks to be more violence than story this year from the promo videos.
Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947) - Danny Kaye, Veronica Mayo. Nice and funny. Reminded me of Court Jester another really funny movies.
Edge of Tomorrow - Interesting to start off with, but seemed to really disappoint in the end (IMO).
Roger & Me(1989). Interesting documentary on the devastation on a small town after massive layoffs at a General Motors factory. 25 years later, and things aren't much better...
Girl with the dragon tattoo. pretty disappointing for a fincher film but he has been pretty hit or miss lately.
Nice **** and oral sex scene...LOL. It didnt really add to the story but i am sure the fincher and the producers just thought it was soooooo important to show it. Losing a lot of respect for Fincher these days.
Z Nation - pilot (epi 1).
YAY !!! Yeeet another zombie movie just when you thought you saw 'em all. Now I am so spoilt I am going to expect zombies in every movie/TV series i see. In fact, I am going to expect every human i see on the street to be a Z (that is a Zombie). Now Z means Zombie, not Zebra. Probably you are all zombies, waiting to trap me and "turn" me, too.
I shall have to exercise extreme caution while logging in.
All these zombies shows makes you appreciate the genius of Lost. I remember the days when I use to turn off all the lights and watch it on that big HDTV. It did take you away for one hour.
Away from Her - a beautiful movie about an old couple: the wife is losing her memory and her husband looking after her.
Julie Christie plays the woman. Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
Darn, I have so much to watch, and so little time. Must put this on my mile-long list.
Nymphomaniac Volume I
Nymphomaniac Volume II
I really don't know what to say about it but Damn. Volume I was crazy but Volume II was a bit more serious and intense. The ending was a shock but hilarious in an absurd way.
i loved lost seasons 1-3. After that it just got to be too much.
jericho and prison break really had me all the way through though.
jericho is probably my favorite show of the last 10 years. walking dead is a lot of fun though. i like it.
Oh yeah.....true detective was pretty phenomenal.
I think the new version of V might have been the most amusing. Has to be the darkest most crazy ending I have ever seen in television. They kind of broke new ground with that one.
Foreign Correspondent (1940) - Joel McCrea. Directed by Hitchcock. Interesting spy movie.
The Machine (2013) - Interesting AI movie. Better than Her (IMO).
Godzilla (2014) - Not finished yet, but quite disappointing. They don't seem to show these creatures much, mostly night/dark scenes, and the MUTO is quite pathetic. I don't think this compares to the 1999 version.
They were alright. Not Lars Von Trier's best work. My favourite director...
Dancer in the Dark?
I watched Divergent. I then had sex.
Those were good times.
No light drinking while watching?
We drank Diet Coke if that counts...
What would you recommend by him?
It's Complicated - Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin. Funny rom-com, divorced couple meet again. Liked.
Alien Abduction (2014) - It's about an alien abduction in which they don't show any aliens, alien space ships, alien worlds or anything. You just get to see girls screaming, a lot of dark, and a fair amount of greenery for the first one hour. In today's world of CGI what excuse do you have to make an alien flick without showing aliens ? We don't even know why the abductions took place, or anything.
"Found footage" also means its completely jerky/bad photography throughout.
Extant - Season 1 is finally over. They start the show by telling you that there are aliens out there, and then put you through 13 episodes of interdepartmental politics and fights, some anti-tech fringe groups, personal/marital issues, child-rearing issues and then the season is over, and you are NONE the wiser about the actual plot.
They could have gone into the AI of the boy and explored that. There was potential in this series. But in the end NOTHING relevant to the story happened for the entire 13 episodes. We still don't know who the aliens are, what they want, etc. Sadly, this even has the stamp of Steven Spielberg.
Extant is a total fail, hope the show is cancelled so they learn a lesson.
I'm not a big fan of most of his stuff, but I thought Dancer In The Dark was great...
Dogville, Antichrist, Melancholia, Etc....A enjoy this certain type of film though. They may not be for everyone.
American Hustle, it was awful.
On Golden Pond - Nice, funny, touching comedy about an old couple at their cabin/house in New Hampshire.
Henry Fonda, Katherine Hepburn, Jane Fonda. 3 Academy awards and several more nominations.
[I[Ender's Game[/I] - Interesting sci-fi movie. Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley play aging commanders who identify and train "The One" who will defeat the alien enemy.
Z Nation (episode 2) - Don't miss this series if you want your fill of seeing humans (er Zombies) being hacked/slashed/decapitated with glee. (/sarcasm)
The Purge - I think this may have been meant to be a satire on violence/guns, although if it was it failed to rise above it. Waste of time.
I'm not sure if there's a bit of trolling going on here or what. First sentinel claims the recent Godzilla has nothing on the terrible one, and then fena says American Hustle was bad.
Lately I've watched Ninja Assassins (I lol'd multiple times at how stupid this was. It basically fits sent's description for Z nation, but the cgi blood was kind of bad), and then today I watched some of Jeremiah Johnson and the original True Grit.
I'm a bit disappointed that IFC was taken off of our cable plan. Today I've missed both of the Conan the Barbarian movies AND Army of Darkness because we no longer get the channel.
Not at all, each to their own. We have a long running TV series over here called Hustle, which is a comedy drama where they pull of a long con on someone. The pace is fast, you're constantly guessing what they're up to and it's a great hour of TV.
American Hustle was slow, predictable, had alot of filler and wasn't worthy of a running time of 2 hours + imo. The acting was good, the story just didn't engage me.
It's a shame because i've been looking forward to seeing it for awhile now, it just didn't live up to my expectations. I watched the Wolf of Wall Street on Thursday, now that I did enjoy!
Am I the only person on this board that watches FX's The Bridge?
I hope it gets a 3rd season, I hear ratings are awful.
Its my weekly escape to the Southwest via TV.
I LOVED the first season. But after watching the first couple episodes of this new season i didn't like where they were taking the show so i stopped watching.
All is Lost (2013) - Robert Redford all alone in the Indian Ocean -- just one actor in the movie. Everything goes wrong one after the other.
I liked it. It's almost like a documentary, btw, there's no humor or "drama", or sentimentality, there's no family shown waiting for him, no army trying to save him ... just him all alone and lost in the ocean.
It does not seem to be a true story, but I am sure many hundreds have died this way.
Saw Jack Reacher yesterday, I'm now a big fan of Rosamund Pike.
Harold and Maude (1971) - I laughed a lot. Interesting but was panned by the critics.
The boy Harold reminds me a lot of the new Sherlock character (with the long name) and the Uncle looks very much like Sherlock's brother (I think they could be the same person, except that this was a 1971 movie).
It's been re-evaluated as a cult classic. I thought it was good, but not really my sort of thing.
Wonder Boys(2000). Always liked this film
I've just got hooked onto The Walking Dead (just seen 5 episodes of Season 1 since yesterday).
Phew !!! Well done. Better than The Strain.
Gotham was very good last night. The female who plays the future catwoman is 15 years old! Wow, online pics she looks 20-25 years old to me. Supermodel face.
... And Justice for All (1979) - Al Pacino.
She reminds me of Simona Halep a bit. Must be the eyes. Yeah, I thought she was older than 15.
I watched Gotham as well. I think I'm going to enjoy this.
Slicester, where/how did you watch btw?
I sent you a message on yahoo about it.
Her arched eyebrows. A talented razor for sure.
Yes! I am looking foward to this! Glad to hear it was good (especially from the tough critic acura9927)
Heart and Souls (1993) interesting comedy, Robert Downey Jr, about a boy/man and four guardian angels who are back for some unfinished work.
Your out of Order!
i like that film too. its kind of strange and quirky. then in the end all hell breaks loose. then its strange and quirky again. the court room scene at the end almost feels out of place because its so dark. The the credits role and Al is going for a Jog....LOL.
Compared with other court room dramas which have very little humor ....And Justice for All sticks out as a sort of black Humor satire of the entire legal system.
Good film. i am always surprised it was such a big hit. it comes off as more of a cult film too me.
yeah its really good. They kind of throw you off guard with the soap opera drama stuff and then.....WAMMO! I think its a better show when you watch four or five episodes at a time. I have trouble week to week as it kind of makes you edgy and on the edge of your seat.....wait a week....left on edge again.....wait another week etc. etc.
You should check out Jericho. Its only a season and a half long and finishes really well.
Just finished Game of Thrones s04e06 last night then I had to go to bed
