Since the name Baghdatis is somewhat easy to misspell, and thus, not so easy to type quickly, wouldn't it be easier if we all agreed on a shorter nickname for him? Especially, since I'm sure there will be tons of more posts about him over the next couple of days, win or lose against Federer? Just like many call Federer, "Fed", what do you think would be a good nickname for Baghdatis?

How about Bagdad..... it's fitting since he has an Arab look about him, even though he's not an Arab.

I think Bagdaddy is the best one because its got a "Who's your daddy" element, and also is very close sounding to his name. Add it up there!

I think we call him Baggy until he wins a title, then BagDaddy until he wins a grand slam, and only then when he has grown we upgrade him to B-Diddy!

    (like Puffy-PuffDaddy-P-Diddy)

Like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy? Cool nineties reference.

Well, since he trains in France, I think people probably call him 'Marc'.
And Marc is very easy to type, write or yell from the crowd.

    Ella Marcos....Allez Marc!

CanNOT believe I'm serious about staying up to watch tonight's match.

    Bagh-adelic, baby!

Unless he is playing against Amer Delic. That would be confusing, sexually and otherwise. I'll stick with Marc, though it is plain.

Sorry. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was a rock-n-roll sort of retro swing band, popular in the mid-late 90s.

But I think if we go with "Marc", we might as well just go with "Marcos" so that there's less confusion. I mean if I just said, "I saw Marc play last night", is everyone going to know I'm referring to Baghdatis? Probably not.

Also, I guess technically, "Marc" could also Marcelo Rios or Marc Kimmich.

"Bagdad" is still my personal favorite since that name has been on the news everyday for the past 3 years, it already rolls off of your tongue and sticks in your head. Not an easy one to forget. Besides, it's a perfect phonetic shortening of the name "Bag-dad-tis".

Just got back from a seance. John Lennon was channeled. I told him all about this thread ... he laughed and replied, "Bagh-ism, man, tell the lads about Baghism".

A nod to his swagger.......and an homage to James Brown, the hardest working man in show bidness.
