Safin hit the ball long and Canas knocked the ball back to Safin's end (I think Safin was serving) and Safin was annoyed so he turned the racket round and smacked it with the handle.
Did quite a good job of it actually with a very clean contact, hope this answers your question.
He was doing an impression of A Rod doing an A Rod (Alex Rodriguez) impression.
He better be careful he doesn't smudge the LM painted bits ;-)

First player I saw do this was Connors....and he could do more than one in a row.
He should grip his racquet a little further from the grip for more leverage.
No @wright.....he's holding it at 3 & 9 so his Gamma lead tape doesnt fall off. Or maybe he is looking for more control. In which case, the new Luxilon overgrips should be ideal.
