What do you like to string it with?
The slaz x-1 with hurricanes, is what works best for me, its no begginer racquet though.
i use the same racquet, only with Gosen poly!!
do a search using terms "serve" and "volley"....limit search to titles and search only in 'racquet' section...
BTW...Precision Response 660, Ti, and Warrior, Slaz X1, C10 Pro & Pro Tour, PS 6.1 Classic..... with full natural gut...
I wish I could get the Slaz X-1 here in Thailand ... any one coming to Bangkok sometime in the near future?
thailand? why don't you hook up with paradorn and get one of his ti-80s, another sweet snv stick.
The wilson ncode n3 is supposed to deliver exceptional feel at the net
the n6.1 90 is supposed to be great at S&V
The yonex rdx 500 mid is a very good s&v racquet.
I'm an all-courter and use the nSixOne 95 18x20. It's great on serve and great on volley - though I serve, rally, then come to net when I can - haven't done as much S&V.
Regarding volleys - best combination of pop and control for my game. It's a hefty stick, SW around 335 or so with overgrip and dampener - but still mobile enough and really sweet. So stable you just grin at attempted power passing-shots.
Not asked, but I especially like this stick with my 1HBH. Pace, spin, and directional control are all there. One of my favorite shots with this tsick.
I string mine with Wilson Natural 17 @ 57.
Other sticks I've demoed and not purchased in favor of the overall balance of nSixOne 95 18x20 traits:
Head LM Prestige Mid
Head LM Prestige Mid+
Prince Diablo Mid
Prince Diablo Mid+
nSixOne 95 16x18
Prince O3 Tour MP
Prince POG OS
Head Radical Flexpoint Tour
Fischer mSpeed 98
Of the above, really liked the Prince Diablo Mid and mSpeed 98 for S&V and all-court. mSpeed was surprisingly uniform on volleys for a more flexible stick.
Looking to demo the Prince O3 Tour MS.
don't mean to hijack this thread but vkartikv, but is that an indian model on your av? i found this great site with av thumbnails of indian models and i could email it to ya.
I recently demoed the n code six one 90. Two of them from tw demo program for $11.50. The n code they sent me strung with wilson sensation felt better. It felt like a big, hard, but soft log. I hadn't really hit in 6 mon. due to tennis elbow/shoulder injuries from the pure drive team plus and work. I played a couple of tie breakers with a 4.5 tourny player, who had been playing 3+ times a week. I hit three aces in two breakers, without having hit a single serve in 6 mon. or more. Then I was sort of accidentally hitting winners, drops, angles, nice returns. I replaced the pure drive team plus with a couple of non n code tour 90s, but they did not have the hard but soft log feel of the n code six one. Demo sticks did not feel very similar. The guy left, depressed, and have not heard from him since.
The NXG OS is pretty good for S&V and doubles play as well.
nPro Surge is a decent serve-and-volley frame.
The Volkl Catapult V8 is a really good serve-and-volley racquet. Very manueverable and surprisingly stable.
amen! just switched to the slaz x1's for serve and volley. had trouble generating racket head speed on the serves (at first, but now i can get the kickers going), but i love the solid feeling on volleys. i'm still experimenting with strings though...
Try Gosen Polyon on mains and OG Sheep Micro crosses like I did.
Why not just order it from TW? Pretty reasonably priced, too.
Babolat Pure Drive Plus, strung very low . You get quite a bit of pop and control.
Hey Bp, I just wanna give you props cos I tried out the X1 after you mentioned it.
Hey, you're quite welcome, PM! Glad you like them.
The X-1 really is a great racquet and quite unique in that it's a relatively stiff racquet but without the harshness typical of most stiff racquets. It just has a really solid feel to it IMHO. I still have three of them myself!
Tour 90 Ashaway Crossfire =)
The Wilson PS 6.0 95 is a very fine S&V racquet, so is the Volkl C 10 Pro 98, but the best IMO is the Estusa Power Beam Braided. I love this frame, still have a few. BTW, it's all about the player, and many guys can S&V with any of a variety of frames.
6.0 85 amazing volleys
