A Serbian Film is up there, although "august underground mordum" definitely takes the cake for me. Just an awful ending haha.

I read the synopsis of this movie. I'm shocked that human beings are capable of thinking up these levels of depravity, but I shouldn't be.

    Old Boy.

A Serbian Film is more shocking in terms of overall content, not so much the ending per se.

I can honestly say the movie has desensitized me to other "shock" or horror films.

The original, non-theatrical ending to Hostel.

I loved the original ending -- it fit with the main character's motivations very cleverly -- but apparently test audiences hated it, which is why they changed to a more predictable ending.

29 Palms was about all I could handle, so I have no desire to see A Serbian Film....

As far as shocking endings, I think "American Beauty" is pretty high up there for me. There are more shocking movies in total, but the ending in that movie was extremely shocking.

The usual suspects. Kevin spacey does a great job in this film.

Old boy is another good one.
Mom is also similar. Both are Korean films.

One would expect someone with the name spaceman not to be caught by surprize by event horizons :)

I saw it but can't remember the ending.

There is no way I am sitting thru that crap. Just read the plot on Wilkpedia.
Sitting thru Evil Dead (2013 film) was bad enough.

    M. Night movies always have pretty good "realization" endings. It's usually the best part because after seeing a few, you kind of try to come up with the ending before it happens and then you're like... WTF? lol

Yep! I have read so much Stephen King and he can't seem to end things sometimes. I am a big fan, but he is frustrating. You think that is bad, try reading all the seven books in his "Dark Tower" series only to have him pull the crap he pulled to end that. I was so mad I could not speak for hours. Also, "Under the Dome" was all build up only have that, "What? really? That sucks..." ending happen.

I fell for the "Sixth Sense" ending and was surprized, I felt stupid.

The ending really took me by surprise. It's my favorite movie, though. Having read the book, I knew where it was going, but the book doesn't (or should I say can't) end as suddenly as the film.

I saw "The Crying Game" right after it came out when I was like 15, so nothing was quite as shocking as that, but that revelation was not an ending.

I found the ending of "Rosemary's Baby" quite interesting; Mia Farrow's quiet resignation was a moment of breathtaking subtlety in a horror genre marked by bloody shocks. "Psycho" is a good one, too.

Fun fact - the girl I lived with last year's sister was married to the Japanese dude in the film.

I remember how they ripped into it on South Park. Epic stuff.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Fight Club. It wasn't 'shocking' as in 'disturbing', but 'shocking' in that I had absolutely no idea what was happening. I was about to turn the movie off ~ 10 minutes before they revealed the 'secret'.

To be honest, it really didn't surprise me because i was taking a General Psychology course and just learned about schizophrenia right before I watched the film.

I liked that movie a lot but I get the sense it could have been much scarier. Just felt like something was missing.

I will add that had I read any of Palahniuk's previous novels, I might have seen something like that coming, but going into the film blind, it really caught me by surprise.

I only watched it because I was/am an Ed Norton fan. But I'm serious when I say I was about to turn it off. Once it took the anarchy/disrupt the government turn, I became disinterested. I only decided to finish it because there was nothing else to do & I wasn't tired.

the best was when they ran down the bus and told the girls they're going the wrong way when they told them there is a town where they can find dudes to be their oil boys.

    Agree completely.

I don't remember many movie endings, but that one sticks in my mind because of how bad it was.
