What's the ONE thing you tell yourself when serving?

I'm having trouble with consistency, especially on second serves.

We all learn many technical points necessary to hit a good, let's say, kick serve. But obviously we can't think about more than one or two things when hitting. So I'm asking: what is the ONE tip you keep in mind while hitting your serve, to make sure it lands in, with enough pace?

For example, it could be ''don't forget to push with your legs'', or ''hit the ball from 7 to 1 o'clock'', ''relax your arm'', ''pronation, pronation..'' etc.

What simple reminder works best for you?

"Show your back" and "Roll your shoulders" are all I really think about during practice and warm-up. During a match, where I'm gonna place the ball is the only thing on my mind.

I tell myself, "Hit an overhead". My serve improved a lot (& continues to improve) when I started thinking that right before serving.

    I use Taylor Dent's tips.

    1. Toss above your head.
    2. hit up.

Toss is 90% of a kick serve.

usually it is my toss that goes. So something like, "into the court", or "don't hit a bad one"

All I say is "Sampras baby." I don't jump that high, twist pretty good, and pronate the mess outta that puppy.

Second serves.... contact point as high as a top/slice can be, swing as fast as I possibly can, aim for backhand side, move body forwards, loose grip.

I've been concentrating on watching the racquet hit the ball. This one thing has improved my double (net) faulting instantly and dramatically!

I don't think anything, at least not verbally, when serving. Consistency is a result of sufficient practice and keeping a calm and clear mind, imo.

I have a tendency to muscle my serves so I usually just tell myself to relax right before I serve.

I just look at the ball and focus where i want to make contact on it, helps me coordinate my movement and hit the ball.

    very positive attitude!

I simply tell myself .."Dont F this up". Occasionally it could be "I hope it lands in".

On a diff note, only thing i think of is about placement. Once the serve routine begins (by bouncing the ball) , nothing to think..just shoot.
