And what's your favorite episode.
Hard to choose just one favorite ep. Here's the eps that stick out in my mind and I can watch over and over:
Original Series: The Devil in the Dark, Mirror Mirror, Plato's Stepchildren.
TNG: Yesterday's Enterprise, The Inner Light, Data's Day.
Original series all the way. Captain Kirk owns those other guys.
The original series is my favorite. My favorite episode from that series is, "City on the Edge of Forever" with Joan Collins (I think that was her). I also loved, "A Piece of the Action".
Right on! * high five *
Spock in a gangster suit... cool!
CBS has put up most of the original series in high quality on youtube, for those that might not have them:
How about "none" as a choice for those of us who loath Star Trek?
The Original Series then DS9. I'm n Trekker or Trekkie but enjoy myself some Trek. I'd like to see the new Star Trek Movie but will probably just wait to rent.
(Blu-ray is great! Just to add.)
Forgot that. sorry! But I understand it is not to everyone's taste.
The Next Generation, but only the ones where Ryker has a beard. I believe he grew it sometime during the 2nd season, before that, they looked really cheesy...
I grew up on the original, and it is a really close 2nd, but I enjoyed the story lines of The Next Generation more as well as the production & effects.
The original, all the way.
Best episode ever was "That Which Survives". Spock played an incredible part in that show. His best performance in the entire series.
"The Way to Eden" is good as well.
Check out the new Star Trek Movie trailer. It looks very promising.
Star Trek TNG - The Inner Light
Voyager is my top pick. Favorite eps include Infinite Regress, Future's End (2-parter featuring Sarah Silverman), and Relativity.
TOS is my next choice, and then TNG and Enterpise. Did not enjoy DS9 all that much -- too much gratuitous Ferengi!
So many outstanding Voyager episodes to chose from. Others include:
Message in a Bottle
Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy
The title of the of the last one is borrowed from a TV spy mini-series, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy", featuring Alec Guinness (aka Obi-Wan Kenobi in a galaxy far, far away).
Voyager was the first I watched much of.
TNG, Voyager are my favourites, never really got into TOS its too old fashioned for me.
My top TNG episodes are:
1. The defector
2. Yesterday's enterprise
4. The next phase
Actually, there are countless others from TNG alone.
Voyager too has a ton of great episodes too.
I hated DS9 as a child but really appreciated recently how well written the dominion war story was, and how it changed the star trek format of singular episodic storytelling.
I just started watching Enterprise for the 1st time, after not being interested in the concept originally, but man, from the 3rd season on the plotlines have been fantastic, its a shame it only made 4 seasons, as it was really starting to pick up.
Growing up with a mom and dad who were big "Trekkies", I watched all of these-except the animated one. The original is my favorite with Next Generation being a close second. I also liked the one where Scott Bakula was the captain, only because I'm a fan of his and the theme song ("I've got faith, faith of the heart") was great.
I didn't watch Enterprise, so my vote goes to TNG. TOS used to be my favourite when I only have watched the few first seasons of TNG, but with time, I realised that TNG, while not having characters as charismatic as the TOS, it definitely had more outstanding episodes, episodes that you can feel that the series touched greatness.
Return of the Jedi
Favorite series: TNG
Favorite character: Spock
Sentimental favorite: Seven-of-Nine, tertiary adjunct of Unimatrix Zero One
Worst series: Enterprise
Favorite episodes: Too many. One that comes to mind now is "The Drumhead (TNG)".
At least, you had the good taste to avoid saying "The Phantom Menace" .
I'm not really a Trekkie, but I did watch the Next Generation when I was in law school and the one where Data hooked up with the hot blonde who eventually got sucked into the living tar pit was good.
Is this he episode where they think the Ensign is a Romulan spy, and a trial ensues, revealing his has Romulan ancestry? If so this yes it was another great episode.
7 of Nine H/L's
TNG, all the way, and of course, Yesterday's Enterprise.
Original series. Episode where Kirk fights the man sized, very slow moving, lizard over who's ship would be destroyed.
Joan Collins? Who on the Starship Enterprise DIDN'T she do? : )
Yes, that's exactly the one I was referring to.
Thanks! It's always great to return to some 7-of-9 goodness. It's definitely true that Jeri Ryan was brought in to improve the sexiness factor of Voyager and draw audiences that way, but her dialogue delivery as the transitioning Borg, and the whole 7-of-9 character arc was excellent (until the last season in my opinion, where it veered off into strange territory - with Chakotay and all .
I like them all except for the animated series which I never saw.
My favorite is A Piece of the Action and I do like City on the Edge of Forever too. I'm a fan of time travel in general and both of these have an element of that.
I think that Enterprise could have continued for a few years. It seems that the TV houses have been pretty quick to cut Science Fiction shows at the first signs of ratings weakness - which is a pain because it takes a season or two to learn the characters and background. It would have been nice if they could have done a full seven-season set.
