1990 Wimbledon was great (MN's 9th title. Edberg's 2nd title. Seles struggling to mute herself...)
1980 Wimbledon (I only saw the men's final-Borg vs McEnroe tho)
2004 Wimbledon was pretty enjoyable too. 2002 US open too.

i loved Wimbledon 2001 from Goran's wc 250-1 odds , his defeat of Safin, the 3-day rain delay defeat of Henman, Rafter in the final, Goran's 2 dfs at match points, prayers, tears, and seeing Rafter on the big stage for the last time. and Wimbledon continued toSplit where the whole country cried when he won and Goran's victorious strip to a crowd of 100,000 happy Croats. I'll never forget that Wimbledon which was all about 1 man & his determination to win.

Can't remember the tournament. I think it was the US Open about 3 or 4 years ago. Finals with Sampras and Agassi. The match that had only one break of serve in five sets I think.

Guga drawing the heart on Philipe Chatrier Court after winning the French Open in 01 and lying down in the middle of it

Sampras winning US Open 02 and going up to see Bridgette who helped him get through all the criticism and all the questions of him still playing...such a special moment to me beacause hes my idol

Sampras breaking the record at Wimbledon in the twilight...another special moment to me also

Ivanisevic vs. Rafter...the whole match...probably the greatest tennis match ive ever seen...WONDERFUL crowd...excellent tennis

Federer in semis and final of 2003...the level of tennis he played will never be rematched and I wont forget the sight of it thankfully

yes I know there is more than one...but I cannot put either one ahead of the other...sorry

That's what I was thinking Willie. Connors is definitely not my favorite but his run in that tournament was the most electrifying by far that I ever remember following.

I remember all the news shows and entertainment shows following it. I remember Entertainment Tonight did a full segment on Connors once he made the quarters or so...how often does that happen?

I also remember that USA network ran ads that just featured CROWD NOISE from Connors matches and at the end simply put on the screen something like "Connors plays tonight on USA".

I think that CBS has replayed the Connors-Krickstein match too much and has drained a lot of the emotion of the 1991 USO out of it for me.
Just seeing Federer cry when he won his first slam in 03 was enough to make Wimbledon from that year memorable.
But the moment for me has to be the 2002 US Open during Sampras's run when everyone said he should retire because he has the record. But just retiring having won his last match, that was great.

It was not a tournament, it was a match. Sampras - Agassi in 2001 US Open quaterfinal. The best match I've ever seen. I had a day ticket and snicked in for a night session. It was 4 tiebreaks, no breaks of serve. The crowd was electric to the limit.

Maybe not a great match but my fave player Lendl getting the US Open monkey off his back as well as defeating his arch rival McEnroe in the process. Mac was very dominant at the time and was a heavy fave. Lendl played some of the best tennis the US Open has ever seen.

If I had to pick one, it would have to be thw Wimbledon 2000 final.
Sampras is my favorite player ever and watching him win his 13th slam and break the all time record was a very special moment.

It had all the right ingredients - Sampras in search of his holy grail; Rafter, one of the classiest guys who's always played well at Wimbledon; the gorgeous Bridgette Wilson; and the best stage in all of tennis - it was great grass court SV tennis.

The match went late into the evening, it was getting dark and there was talk of it being postponed. But it got over just in time.

On Centre Court as darkness fell, the flashing bulbs made it seem like Hollywood. Overcome by emotion, Sampras broke into tears, went and hugged his parents (who never came for his matches but were there for this one).

After the match, there was a funny Nike commercial on tv - Roy Emerson, looking quite determined, says "I'll be waiting for you on the senior circuit" :D. I'm sure Nike had another version with a gloating Emmo ready in case Sampras lost.
