So we're still waiting for a decent year for Ernests, where he will finally live up to his hype. When will this be?

I hope his breakout happens before 2015, geez, he isn't that young... Isn't he the guy that got in trouble with a prostitute. So not cool

Why do we have to "wait" for Gulbis to live up to his hype? There're so many young players out there now that have almost no hype to their names yet are slowly climbing up the rankings and are higher ranked than Gulbis within a year.

This Gulbis guy,has constantly disappointed time and time. Just like Safin, after beating a tough opponent or advancing far into a tournament,he turns up the next day only to tank badly or lose the match. Then nothing is heard of him again, even in Grand Slams. If he himself doesn't have the motivation to accomplish anything noteworthy in his tennis career,he will never!

For Gulbis a major breakthrough would be winning 3 matches in a row.

He is talented for sure...but too much is expected from him (still only 21). He has already made the QF of a GS, a breakthrough in itself. I think alot of 2009 was spent to improve his conditioning, he looks bigger and stronger and showed shades of his best form against Murray at the US Open.

I think in about 2 years, he may have a big breakthrough at the slams. I expect his game will mature, and his point contruction will prove (Natural progression). The great thing about Gulbis ,is he does not really have to improve one area of his shotmaking. Huge serve, backhand and forehand. Hopefully he can improve his work ethic, and stop paying for the services of prostitutes.
