I know in the top spin serve, the ball toss is suppose to land on your left ear if you let it drop all the way. However, is this with the leg bend or without the leg bend?

Is this for the first or second serve?

Most guys tend to toss a bit more into the court on first serves. I doubt it will be close to their ears for first serves.

if you don't want to advertise to your opponent that a top spin serve is coming you will toss the ball slightly closer to your body if at all and not toss it so that it lands on your left ear.

The moment I see that big change of toss over an opponent's head, I am moving forward well into the court to negate their top-spin and taking the ball early on the rise and then usually continuing forward to finish the point at the net.

Getting extra top spin on the ball with an advertised toss is hardly worth it when the opponent is going to steal time, attack the net, and apply pressure with a return that he takes waist high.
