I know it's Luxilon and Thermogut... but which goes in the crosses and the mains? And at what tensions?

Also, if I were to use this exact hybrid in my Yonex RDX 500, would it play pretty much the same as it would in a Wilson?

    Gut in the mains
    Luxilon in the crosses

    Don't know about tension though.

Actually all those tensions are right, he varies a little around those numbers depending on conditions, balls, what he had for breakfast... that sort of thing.

    Thanks.

I see a lot of people doing the opposite though. Putting Gut in the crosses and luxilon in the mains. What's the difference?

Everything I've read indicates that you should put the more durable string in the mains, because they're more likely to break. Why not just go all gut if you're going to put it in the mains of a hybrid configuration?

Federer doesn't give a stuff about durability, he just picks up another racquet. He's using the Lux ALU Rough in the crosses to dampen the power of the nat gut in the mains a bit and give him a little more spin. The rougher coating may limit string movement a little too. Players who use the ALU in the mains and nat gut in the crosses are trying to soften up the ALU a little and pocket the ball a little more, add a bit of power too. Lux in the mains would be more control oriented.

I find the mains give the best feel, so that would be logical to put the best feeling string in the mains.

Also the ALU does tame the Gut's power, and give some more control.

One of the best Hybrids imo.
