So i was going to get a stringing machine soon
i live at home and parents won't let me get an upright machine or a crank machine due to weight/room
so i can only get a tabletop machine
the 2 i have been looking at are:

    mutual power hercules 690 - 415 shipped
    or
    mutual power hercules 880 - 635 shipped

i ve done search and the 690 has good feedback, but couldn't find a whole lot on the 880
is the extra 200 worth it for the electronic?

How many racquets do you plan on stringing per month? thats really the only big difference in these 2 machines is the tensioner. The 880 will just be 10-15 minutes faster per stringjob, which can mean more throughput if your stringing a lot. But if you are just stringing for yourself and a few other buddies, than the 690 should be fine.
The 690 should last longer too, since theres really nothing to go wrong.

Get the 690, those cheap electrics are not worth it IMO.

^^^ Yeah probably the best idea. Very little to go wrong with that machine. It will probably last longer than you will be playing if you keep it clean and lubricated, wheras the 880 may have to be fixed or replaced in 5 or 6 years.

i got the 690 and ive had it for a few weeks. so far, it works great for me. with the clutch which allows you to operate the dropweight with 1 hand, tensioning the string is really quick and easy. its built well too. it all depends on what you need though.

Their machines look to be good quality and the owners of the company are honest -- if you ask enough questions. I was seriously considering the MP Atlas 8600/9600's, which are advertised as "constant pull". After querying James it became clear that these are electronic lockouts. Just a matter of semantics IMO. James was upfront and clear about the way the machines operated. Ask lots of questions about the electronic machines, but other than that I think these are solid people and solid machines. You should not feel queasy about MP.

How is your MP 680 holding up max? Is it pulling tension correctly? (like not 10 lbs of difference)
